Just about to finalise my new kitchen and I don't want to think I have missed anything.

What do you love about your kitchen and what could you not live without ?

Budget is big at around 80K - what 'toys' would you add ?

Ooooh good thread! One thing not to get is non sparkly black granite-shows every bloody water mark!!

molesbreath · 28/09/2014 23:44

Done black granite to death, its going to be kashmir white this time.

Floor shaker units painted in F&B 'molesbreath' with a contrasting cream wall units and dark dog friendly floor

That sounds lush!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 28/09/2014 23:49

80k? Isn't there one too many noughts on that figure?!

quickanswer · 29/09/2014 00:44

Quooker

Had two , in last two kitchens , they are fantastic . I would not be without one again.

Others on here would disagree but with an 80k budget I would get one .

Yes to Quooker also a warming drawer. It's like a hostess trolley but a drawer obviously. I went for the deep one and wouldn't be without it. Also a hand held spray to swoosh round the sink. A separate one not part of the tap.

Sleepwhenidie · 29/09/2014 07:05

Two dishwashers.

Love my quooker, warming drawer, make sure freezer is frost free - saved money with a Siemens & it isn't (grr). Appliance garage for frequently used electrical goods eg coffee machine, blender, KitchenAid. Underfloor heating. Lighting set up so can change from where you eat & where you enter.

AngelinaCongleton · 29/09/2014 07:22

Omg- I need a quooker. First time I've heard of. How much did yours cost? Seems to be a big price variance on my quick search.

crossandcrosser · 29/09/2014 07:28

If I had £80K budget I'd have all the bells & whistles.
Wine fridge
Warming drawer
Walk in pantry with slate shelves
Marble pastry station
Built in coffee machine
Lacranche range
I imagine your kitchen designer will have some great ideas.

pootlebug · 29/09/2014 08:16

Quooker
2 dishwashers
Especially it's a kitchen diner / living space, a decent extractor that is also as quiet as possible….ours has an exterior motor so plenty of power but the noise is outside rather than inside.
Water softener if you live in a hard water area (not necessarily in the kitchen itself)

We have all the above and no regrets at all.

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2014 08:21

In my somewhat more lowly kitchen, I asked for small shelves on the wall halfway between worktop level and the bottom of the wall units.

I keep all the things that are used a lot, or I need to grab when cooking, on them. Herbs, honey, stock cubes etc works brilliantly.

Boysandme · 29/09/2014 08:27

Not quite as high end as you're talking but I wouldn't be without full height pull out larder cupboard/drawer. That is fantastic and I would have a few next time round.

mupperoon · 29/09/2014 08:32

Kashmir white is fab. Had it in last house.

I loved my Fischer&Paykel DishDrawer. Wouldn't be without a side by side ff with ice and water.

sillymillyb · 29/09/2014 08:39

I think I'd spend £20k on kitchen then employ a chef for a few years instead Smile

burnishedsilver · 29/09/2014 09:38

Have you already got your granite? I was told that there are supply problems with Kashmir white. Apparently the quarry is closed and there's very little of it left. I managed to find one slab but I needed two. I went with silestone in the end.

crossandcrosser · 29/09/2014 09:50

I've gone for Silestone too, one that looks like carrera, it's gorgeous.

worldgonecrazy · 29/09/2014 09:50

Combination steam oven would be my top kitchen "toy" if I had a few thousand quid to spend on an oven.

lurkingaround · 29/09/2014 09:54

Definitely 2 dishwashers.

pootlebug can I ask what extractor fan you have? I absolutely hate the noise of most extractor fans, and won't use them because of the noise.

Full size fridge, full size separate freezer, none of this Amercan ff stuff, I hate the freezers in them.

aftereight · 29/09/2014 09:55

Underfloor heating
Recycling station in utility room
Uplighters on top of cabinets

echt · 29/09/2014 11:21

Having made over a kitchen without changing ing the footprint, I'd say fabulous tiles above the counter and below cupboards.

We chose murano glass tiles and they are beautiful.

pootlebug · 29/09/2014 11:30

lurking our extractor is a custom-made Westin one (just looks like a fairly standard extractor but needed custom made to get it the right height with high ceilings and with external motor)

scrimper · 29/09/2014 11:36

£80k for just replacing the kitchen Shock Envy

scrimper · 29/09/2014 11:38

lurkingaround - can I ask why 2 dishwashers. we are just re doing our kitchen too (although nowhere near £80k budget! )
