Plain English is a kitchen co much copied by local carpenters for a fraction of the cost

Find something you like rip off HJ/Plain English/WoodchesterCabinets -get a local carpenter to make it.

ha ha. Ticks all the boxes, but the "inexpensive one".

A good carpenter can do it for half

They have been bloody brilliant.

Dunno what you consider inexpensive, but Parlour Farm are prob in between the likes of Magnet and Harvey Jones.

But, as I said, cheapest option is finding a carpenter.

I would say, those Shaker style doors are fuckers for gathering dust/grease/dirt in the ridges. I'd go for plain, flat gloss every time now.

well ours didn't cost that. more like £15K.
we just found a fantastic old victorian kitchen table as well for £220 and it MAKES the whole kitchen!

B&Q have gone a bit trendy these days.

The linear design doesn't gather dust. And it looks and feels solid.

I loved my Parlour farm kitchen. And then we moved house...

I've seen Parlour Farm before too and really like the look of their kitchens and yes Staverton has a lovely kitchen!

We have a Howden's kitchen and they have some lovely shaker style ones in their ranges.

Other options are Higham Furniture or DEvol.

Higham are fab. My kitchen is made by them. It looks beautiful.

Devol are cheaper but look great too.

Depends what you want. Higham is fully bespoke but Devol isn't.

We're in the NW and had our kitchen made by this company.

All custom built and fab quality. It cost about the the same a kitchen made from standard cupboard carcasses from our local 'posh' kitchen shop.

V happy with it.

I like the look of Neptune kitchens (may just be the level of photography, haven't seen in the flesh).

Otherwise, carcases from Ikea with carpenter-made doors etc.

Don't think Neptune are cheap, are they? Our laundry maid came from Devol and cost £300, so I would guess their kitchens definitely aren't my idea of cheap!

We had the Howdens top of the range kitchen put in. It's a shaker style and has solid oak doors,painted, in frame style. The kitchen is medium sized and the units, work tops and sink cost £4,500 in the sale. Original quote was £6,400 but sale and getting our fitter to buy it reduced costs. It does look really nice and I have had a lot of comments from visitors. I think it's called Haworth.

The fitting cost me £1275 - done in a week. He was NW tradesman of the year.

The appliances were a range master £1499, integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher. These were around £250-£300 each again rangemaster.

I thought this was a lot of money (to me any way). I have heard some negative reporting about Howdens, but although you will not get the "show room" experience, not a single item was missing from the delivery and as they carry stock, if there is a problem you can just get it from the store.

I do hear however that their appliances are pretty awful, so avoid these.
