Where in the country are you? Are prices holding, going up or down?

South London. Going up.

Still reasonably priced , an example above ( not mine ) some are terribly overpriced , so whether badly advised , or just hopeful , who knows .

southeastastra · 29/02/2012 09:18

same as usual

iseenodust · 29/02/2012 09:53

Semi-rural Yorkshire. Prices same as last year. Of the 7 closest recently marketed properties to us 5 have sold within 6 weeks at or around asking price. 1 is stuck at over 12 months on market, overpriced but asking less than they paid for it (6 beds). 1 stuck because overpriced and tiny (1 bed & box).

Katiebeau · 29/02/2012 10:02

East Herts. Holding last years prices if truly last years price. Houses trying to sell for more than 2007 peak not selling.

sh77 · 29/02/2012 12:16

C London. Up 100k compared with 12 months ago.

bibbityisaporker · 29/02/2012 12:18

SE London still going up, hugely.

Becaroooo · 29/02/2012 13:12

Here in Derbyshire prices are down about 8% on last year according to Zoopla...

CarpeJugulum · 29/02/2012 13:14

NE Scotland and variable Hmm

Big houses are coming down, but standard 3 beds are increasing especially if detached.

sweetkitty · 29/02/2012 13:17

Still falling a bit, we are just about to put ours in the market. As we are in Scotland we have to have the Home Report & survey done before. Home report are say pricing houses at 150k, going on the market for 140k and selling for 135k!!

TunipTheVegemal · 29/02/2012 13:18

East Yorkshire, going down

ChickensHaveNoLips · 29/02/2012 13:20

South Derbyshire, and still dropping. Although thankfully, it has slowed down.

oreocrumbs · 29/02/2012 13:24

County Durham waaay down Sad. House behind mine just sold for £70k less than I paid for mine in 2008.

Not a lot seems to be moving, but have started to see some sold signs going up on 2 bed terraces (main housing stock of the area)

Abzs · 29/02/2012 13:38

Aberdeen. Asking prices steady or up. But the percentage paid over is well down.

TunipTheVegemal · 29/02/2012 13:39

This Rightmove link shows you the figures for your postcode. It's very interesting, especially if you look at it over 7 years or longer.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/02/2012 13:44

Prices steady. Very little on the market - quite a few set optimistically above the 250k stamp duty threshold which really need to be at 250 (they are at 259/255/275).

Real dearth of properties though.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 29/02/2012 15:42

North herts. Not a lot selling at all, quite a few price drops.

likeatonneofbricks · 29/02/2012 21:11

anyone around Bath/Bristol? what happened there to compare with 1yr ago?

Lilymaid · 29/02/2012 21:20

NW Surrey/SW London borders - very buoyant market. Just sold my parents' old house for more than I had hoped for. Demand outstrips supply in this desirable commuter belt area.

Hulababy · 29/02/2012 21:26

Prices are pretty steady here. More houses seem to be being sold quicker at moment, prices same for a year or two roughly. Still a little less than sy 3-4 years ago, but gradually rising.

TalkinPeace2 · 29/02/2012 21:26

BUT
interest rates cannot stay this low for ever - and when they rise even to 1%, lots of people will be forced to sell.
The number of transactions is WAY down
And land registry are averaging 10% below asking prices

likeatonneofbricks · 29/02/2012 21:30

Hula, was that in answer to my post?

Popoozle · 29/02/2012 21:31

According to Rightmove the prices are more or less stable here but the actual amount of houses selling is quite a lot less than 12 months ago - well, has decreased steadily over the past 4 years.

There are quite a lot of new-ish build 5 or 6 bedroom houses in our village & some of them seem to have had for sale boards outside for ever. The smaller (and therefore cheaper) houses seem to sell relatively quickly though, as do the older "character" properties.

Hulababy · 29/02/2012 22:14

Sorry no, was just in relation to op.

Moln · 29/02/2012 22:21

I'm in Dublin and the house prices have been heading downwards since 2006

They are less than half now, what they were then (on my estate - ex-council terrace three bed houses at the peak they were going for ?590,000!!!!)
