Never heard of them. We used Tesco when we needed a bathroom quickly and were very pleased with them. They had a good range, decent quality and were very helpful. Need to organise your own plumber though.

Thanks. Plumber not a problem. Just a bathroom!

I went to B and Q they sold very reasonable, non offensive white cheap suites

emsyj · 29/03/2011 20:24

I used Plumb Center - very reasonable prices and well-known brands.

biryani · 29/03/2011 20:28

I used Wickes. Cheap and convenient, and nationwide.

wifeofdoom · 29/03/2011 20:32

I used better bathrooms - it arrived fine - not installed yet but all looks ok.

Our plumber has refused to fit a b&q bathroom suite because of the poor quality.

Noooo, don't throw a spanner in the works about B&Q - just picked up the brochures. They all start to merge into one so what's so bad about B&Q (Does this mean I can't get the Shell one Wink)

How long did the betterbathrooms one take to arrive wifeofdoom? I think I need to see one though before I order.

A friend had her bathroom from betterbathrooms - was available in days I think, in fact they had to ask for delivery to be delayed as they weren't ready for it. She is very pleased with it & we are thinking of getting new bath from there. They have a good showroom in Warrington & also sell lots of tiles.

Bathstore (v cheap) are OK for the suite though can chip if they get violent treatment, but I'd go online for some more expensive taps and loo seat etc.

said · 29/03/2011 22:53

Thanks all. No consensus so I'm guessing a white suite is a white suite? Still want to know what was so bad about B&Q?

Said - I have no personal experience of B&Q, but was told by a plumber that their baths are very thin plastic and can easily split, especially if you also have a shower above the bath and regularly stand in the bath.

randomimposter · 30/03/2011 10:47

we used bathstore last time
really happy with quality
haggled them down quite a bit so happy with price
delivered on time (had to chase a couple of minor items)
overall very pleased
will use them with the next house

We had a horrrendous experience with Bathstore and would avoid them - may just have been our local branch, though. I went to select and order a bath when heavily pregnant. The men in the showroom ignored me studiously and then treated me like an idiot when ordering ("you know you'll need some taps and a waste to make the bath work, don't you love?" They actually said love).

Delivery took an age as only twice a week and were full for 3 weeks from when I ordered. They then delivered a badly scratched bath, took 2 weeks to collect it and bring a new one. Eventually delivered and refused to carry it upstairs (even though had said prev that they would) and left it blocking hallway completely. Was unable to climb over/around it as T+8 at that stage. A week after fitting the bath cracked along one end - only a couple of inches and above water level, but obviously crappy quality.

Shop and area manager verbally abusive to me when rang up to complain. Too hormonal and weepy at that point to take it any further, but I reckon they should have refunded the price of the bloody bath.

Not that I'm still bitter, or anything Angry!
Dh is a builder and recommends Wickes for goood price and quality.

Do you have a branch of City Plumbing near you? Check online. They stock and can get hold of most major brands in a range of price points.

They'll deliver to you FOC and can get some things next day.

I got all my bathroom fixtures and fittings from there. And much cheaper than high street showrooms. EG my Grohe tap is a thing of beauty but only £90 at City Plumbing.

Thanks again. Right, B&Q iffy. Have a local Bathstore but that won't make any difference will it as all online really, nothing in the store? ALos, most of their cisterns are too high for where they have to go.

Yes, we do have a City Plumbing nearby so will look this weekend - thanks.

Plumbworld looks good as well but worried about lack of tel number if things go wrong

We used bathstore, they were fantastic. Ordered on line, was offered delivery two days later. Good prices too.

My PIL's also used them, had very good experience. One damaged item, was collected and replaced (by the same courier!) within a day or two.

There is screwfix of course, whose customer service and delivery is second to none! Not used for bathrooms, but have used for lots of other plumbing/radiators/you name it basically....

triskaidekaphile · 30/03/2011 20:38

I want a new bathroom. [sulk]

mrsravelstein · 30/03/2011 20:39

we used bathstore when were in a real hurry as had been let down by a dodgy internet supplier... bathstore were absolutely amazing, couldn't have been more helpful, and excellent products, very happy with quality

We had a B & Q bathroom in our last house, had it for 7 years until we moved and the bath was fine, with both adults standing daily for showers. The side panel split a bit at the top when our eldest fell into it, but I suspect any make would have in those circumstances. We also replaced the toilet seat a couple of years ago but that was down to not really cleaning it well enough Blush and I just felt it was easier to replace it!

I am looking at a new bathroom suite for our new house, and I am split between another B&Q one and better bathrooms online one. I have no concerns about buying B&Q again - I thought it was fine?

What about B&Q's Cooke and Lewis bathrooms? Are these meant to be superior? (Who are Cooke & Lewis? Is this just a made-up brand for B&Q?)
