new farrow and ball colours/decorating hall

Has anybody tried out any of the new farrow and ball colours yet?

I'm thinking about decorating my hall London Stone below dado with the new Oxford Stone above, but the hall at the moment is very white and I'm finding such a big change hard to imagine all down the hall and up the stairs and landing.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

fantastic, we have white tongue and groove so it will not be too full on, off to buy some mizzle now I think.

thanks for your reply, hotchoc

Quick one for sonnyb. Did you use normal pure brilliant White or a f&b
One for your woodwork. I have bought James white but the mizzle sample looks good with existing pbw which really just needs touched up on top. Getting lazy and not even got brush in hand yet. Thanks hotchoc

Anyone tried Brassica? I have a mild obsession with it. I really want to paint the adults living room in it (mostly used in the evening so fancy something dark and dramatic). Thinking of peacock/teal velvet sofa in the bay and white Florence Knoll sofa and Barcelona chairs. Also want yellow accent in lamps, cushions. Am I mad?

I like this Laura Ashley fabric www.lauraashley.com/drape/manhattan-leaf-blue-linen-silk-curtain-fabric/invt/3501758/ but don't know if it's quite the colours you were looking for.
I also like this Sheridan www.justlinen.co.uk/justlinen/product.asp?design=1182&dept=3 linen but again it may be too grey for what you want.

Late reply for hotchoc - just used a matt white, and it looked fine!

hotchoc · 23/09/2011 10:18

thanks Sonnyb, I've done the bathroom and I just love the colour. I have kept the existing woodwork and it is fine.

Now I need a strong colour for a panel of 'wall' in a wall of glass in my garden room that looks out into greenery. thinking quite a definite grey or open to suggestion. any ideas anyone? rest of walls are off white and woodwork is a kindof mahogony stain (not my choice I hasten to add).

Looking forward to suggestions.

Have done London Stone / Oxford Stone combo in my dining room and it looks great. Very sophisticated.

I did London Stone on the walls up to picture rail height, and Oxford Stone on the freize (sp?) & ceiling, with pointing for woodwork, picture rail and coving. Don't be tempted to team it with white - it needs the warmth of pointing.

Go for it.

My bath is also Oxford Stone.

Make sure you buy the actual F&B paint, not lookey-likey. IME it does not lookey - likey one bit, and you still have to buy the proper stuff and repaint.

Faseeshus · 23/09/2011 19:36

Have also used Stoney ground, teamed with slipper satin, which complements it rather the white.

In fact, I can honestly say I don't have brilliant white anywhere in my house.

Agapanthii · 24/09/2011 16:47

I'm planning my hallway in Little Greene's "welcome" accentuated with a wall of F&B brassica. .

aylsham · 25/09/2011 17:55

Old white comes out quite grey, but light, on our walls. But for me, you can't beat Farrow's Cream with Terracotta - not a new colour but sometimes the oldies are the best!

Dragging up an old thread.

Does anyone have a view on Cornforth White for a hall/stairs and landing?
I do like it's neutrality as it has to tone with different colours in adjoining rooms but I'm concerned it might look a bit like lining paper when up?

The F&B lady in the shop recommended it.

Spindelina · 05/03/2012 15:53

Just finished painting my living room in Brinjal (how's that for a strong colour?!).... and just about to paint my bedroom in Elephant's breath.

Slightly worried at how excited I am by this prospect.

notabodenfan · 07/03/2012 16:41

How is the brinjal looking?! We did a room in it but found it too dark.

Spindelina · 07/03/2012 16:52

Looks great so far! The room's not in use yet - waiting for carpet - so we'll see what it's like with that and furniture in. We've got lots of white / light colours around too (windows with shutters & curtains, big fireplace, a couple of doors, alcoves painted white, high skirting board, cornice comes quite far down the wall), so the whole thing is about half and half.

No-one's answered your question! boo. We've got Cornforth White in the study, and it's great for that - very calming and studious. Wouldn't have thought lining paper. Not sure we'd want it in our stairs / landing (which are Dayroom Yellow) - we prefer something bolder, as our stairwell is very dark in some places and very bright in others.
