Oxford Reading Tree - what level do Biff, Chip and Kipper stop at?

DS is on Level 7 (ones that don't have B, C and K in - Robins or More Robins or some other bird). Will there be more of the great trio when we get to stage 8 or is that it?

DS is on level 8 & was reading B, C & K tonight.

Toffeepopple · 27/01/2010 22:51

Around 11, I think? Have blotted out that particular memory.

deepdarkwood · 27/01/2010 22:54

But thinking about it (I change books at school) I don't think the kids who are in levels above ds have Biff, Chip & Kipper books - not that I remember anyhow.
That may just be a school choice though...

NoahAndTheWhale · 27/01/2010 23:03

Thank you

Need to look more closely at the list of books Which Must Be Read when I next do reading at school and find out what will come next.

Still have it all to come with DD. Am not sure I can summon up the enthusiasm for the ones without words again - but will do my best

They stop at nothing
THey will drive you to the edge
You will lose your will to live.

catinthehat2 · 27/01/2010 23:06

Oh, which level? dunno blotted that one out of me meory FOREVER!

thegrammerpolicesic · 27/01/2010 23:16

hahaha cat in the hat. I was going to post similar. They will seep into your conscience for eternity OP. There is no escape from their jolly japes and their "Dad had an idea" dialogue.

TheCrackFox · 27/01/2010 23:19

I think they stop at stage 1238942. It took me until I was 32 to finish them all, the final book being the seminal "Chip Comes Out of The Closet". Very moving but all done in 7 word sentences.

deepdarkwood · 27/01/2010 23:21

Am I the only person who quite likes the little beggers? Once they get hold of that majic key (how does that happen, actually) the sky's the limit...

deepdarkwood · 27/01/2010 23:21

magic, magic

TheCrackFox · 27/01/2010 23:27

Once they get the magic key you never see the parents again. Wait until you get to stage 17 and social services and ultimately the police get involved. Harrowing.

NoahAndTheWhale · 27/01/2010 23:37

I do quite like the magic key. And I have to admit there is one book I keep listening to children in DS's class read that still makes me laugh. One with a rope swing that Fluffy thinks will fall apart when the children swing on it, it doesn't, he looks at it, it falls on his head and the bridge the children are on breaks.

it is even worse when you are a teaching assistant listening to 60 children read them..........

NoahAndTheWhale · 27/01/2010 23:42

That must be painful - hopefully not all 60 at once

RomillyJane · 27/01/2010 23:48

Fluffy ???? Surely FLOPPY?????

NoahAndTheWhale · 27/01/2010 23:50

Obviously Floppy .

I will be condemned to reading Oxford Reading Tree books for the rest of my life. And even into the afterlife .

Dog is called Floppy
Dog is called Floppy

sugartits · 27/01/2010 23:52

I love the magic key and ds chooses them just for me .

TheFirstLady · 27/01/2010 23:53

They go up to A-level don't they? It feels like it when you're ploughing through them anyway.
You always hope that one day the magic key will fail to recall them from one of their tedious adventures and leave them stuck up a chimney in Victorian England or whatever.

treedelivery · 27/01/2010 23:55

I hate them already. We started on friday I think, and we are 2 books in.

It's going to be a looooong life.

snice · 27/01/2010 23:56

I don't mind Biff, Chip etc.

The ORT 'Fireflies' series however are some of the dullest books known to man(or woman). Any one who has read it will not quickly forget the horror that is 'Food as Art'

NoahAndTheWhale · 28/01/2010 00:04

Ah have found this.

Looks like B, C and K go up to stage 9.

But I am sure that not all the books are on The List

Does whatever his name is who writes these get a cut every time a child struggles through enjoys one of these books I wonder?

NotAnOtter · 28/01/2010 00:19

i was checking out the OU prospectus the other night and there were some great courses with B C and K

from creative writing - to a masters in Social Policy - which had the added bonus of Gran Nadim and Wilma

NoahAndTheWhale · 28/01/2010 07:53

Someone should have B, C and K as a Mastermind subject.

Although not me given my inability to remember the dog's name of course.

OP posts:
Goblinchild · 28/01/2010 07:56

Level 9.
The first book on level 10 is 'The Boss Dog of Blossom Street'
Not Floppy I hasten to add.
