A lot of the private schools near us seem to have a vaguely CofE affiliation - does anyone know if your child will be discriminated against wrt getting a place if the parents aren't married?

I heard that some marked mothers down for wearing trousers , so am wondering if I ought to invest in some rings .

"free" (or even included in fees) after school care ? When do I get that, then?

Actually, as we have started looking at next-stage schools, I have only just realised that it may not be the norm to charge £10/day for after school care in independent schools - and DS's school holiday club is the most expensive in the area - now that I have found others, he doesn't go there any more .

I recieved a prospectus for a school today, addressed to 'Mr and Mrs FluffyBunny'. I put Ms on the request for the prospectus

Sorry but this did make me chuckle.

I turn up in what I like. I am now married but was not when my eldest attended her first indie school!

Perhaps I was ignorant but I was not aware of any discriminination for this!

I can think of a few parents at DDs current school that are single or unwed parents (not that I have ever really thought much about it before! I dont think anyone gives too hoots as long as the bill is paid.

And actually - most mums turn up in jeans and tracksuits and one or 2 in jods!
