Do you feel children should be touched

  1. not at all, ever
  2. occasionally, depending on circumstance and age. If so, what age and which circumstance?

I am a primary teacher and I touch children (shoulder, back, hand) but I am concerned that some parents might feel this to be inappropriate.

Yes young children should definately be touched. I would hate to think that my child wasn't comforted/cuddled if upset.

Please please don't stop hugging!#I love the fact that my ds2 goes to a very touchy, huggy school, I think it is far healthier for children to see positive physical contact rather than aggresive physical contact.
The teachers know who likes to be touched & which kids like their space.

I am happy for my children to be hugged/touched.

When DD started school she did not want to be left the first day so the TA sat her on her lap with a story and she was fine. I would have been very upset if my daughter had been left sobbing because no one dared touch her.

Dd greets the headmaster with a hug and half the school do the same to be honest from what I can see. There seems to be ready supply of hugs, pats, ruffled hair and hand holding at the school and I wouldn't want any of it to change. It's so sad that people are so suspicious and I am sure children lose out as a consequence.
