How do I cope.

OP posts:

Like the other 80+% of the population. I expect some parents read this and felt quite hurt because they may have received worse news. Think before you write things like that.

MangoJuggler · 02/07/2009 21:55

what trick said

pooka · 02/07/2009 21:55
Hmm
randomtask · 02/07/2009 21:56

Happily.

There's less stress with 'average' and I suspect he'll be happier for it.

zanz1bar · 02/07/2009 21:56

oh are you my mum,?

Aaaargh that makes ME average

TrinityRhino · 02/07/2009 21:57

what an insensitive thing to say

MangoJuggler · 02/07/2009 21:57

An average poster, yes

KEAWYED · 02/07/2009 21:58

MIne was below average but now gone up to average Hurray

zanz1bar · 02/07/2009 22:03

i have never been average in my life, no way are we related

Goober · 02/07/2009 22:05

Count your blessings, my dear.

lilyfire · 02/07/2009 22:05

When people who've excelled at something talk about what motivated them they often say it was the fact that their mothers let them know that they believed they were totally exceptional and could do what they wanted in life. I really wouldn't let a teacher's judgment that your son is average deflect you from your knowledge that he's actually a genius.

moffat · 02/07/2009 22:06

I thought this would be about swine flu.

wrinklytum · 02/07/2009 22:07

Theres nowt wrong with average. The main thing is if your dc is happy at school

(FWIW I would love my dd to be even remotely "average" as she has quite severe developmental delay)

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 02/07/2009 22:07

LOL.

I think some of you are being a little harsh on the OP, she is taking the piss, no?

purpleduck · 02/07/2009 22:08

Everyone is excellent at something - so what if its not school?

zanz1bar · 02/07/2009 22:08

Mother

Mother
gone and never called me .....

Where has she gone?

Wonderstuff · 02/07/2009 22:08

My mum was told by my primary teacher that I was a bit thick ('would be lucky to get a couple of GCSE's' was the exact phrase) I'm quite clever really. Don't believe a word of it he is obviously destined for great things..

piscesmoon · 02/07/2009 22:10

I think she is admitting to what most mumsnetters won't admit to -their DC is average! If they all had sky high IQs that would be the new average!

plonker · 02/07/2009 22:44

Lighten up guys ...jeez ...

OP was clearly joking

trickerg · 02/07/2009 23:06

Can see that plonker, but thought the 'joke' was insensitive for this kind of forum where a lot of people are worried about special needs and would love to be told that their child is 'average'.

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2009 23:09

OP - the teacher is obviously an idiot who cannot recognise your DS's genious!

It was quite clear to me that she wasn't mocking those whose DCs struggle-just a few who can easily stand it!

Goblinchild · 03/07/2009 07:44

I'm a teacher with an sn child and over 20 years of dealing with parents.
I thought it was funny, but then I can put numerous faces to the horrified response.

2shoes · 03/07/2009 07:47

oh dear can no one make a joke or mess arround on here now.
dd has severe sn, but i lol at the op.
dodn't forget a lot of parents of dc's with sn have more than one child.
my dc's are average, averagely annoying.....
