My son was told today at lunch that he was unable to eat his chocolate custard and two jaffa cakes. Its the first time but i think its a bit wrong.

Advice please and not about giving him things.

Thanks bamboo - I agree. Lots of parents can't wait to have a pop at school staff. Most of which really care about the children they look after on a daily basis.

i dont think people are meaning to " have a pop" at anyone. but if they are, surely its better here, then they get honest response from others, before going into school all guns blazzing!!! it may even change there opinions.

bit confused thought by some recent posts. say we want balanced approach to meals so kids grow up with healthy out look. but then question why school has cake and custard for pudding!! surly thats ok, if they are having it after a healthy meal? my school has chips , pizza bacon and jam tart with custard on the menu at least once a week, not all at the same time, but they are there with the healthy options. i think that is fine. so long as they dont mind the occasional choc yog in my ds lunch box!

Can anyone tell me why parents give their children 2 packets of crips, 2 fun size chocolate bars and a can of coke for lunch. I mean, why would someone actually do that?

Ignorance????

I say that because I remember watching a news item on some area in the country where they were doing something to sort out obese children. There some little gilr of about 6 who had been seriously overweight and was now losing weight thanks to healthy eating and excercise (really radical stuff!!!). Anyway when they interviewed the Mum and aksed what she had learnt on the course she claimed that she hadn't known about healthy eating and didn't know what calories were . Wasn't sure if she was actually telling the truth or she didn't want to admit to wilful neglect???!!!

On the other hand is it just not laziness. It requires no thought or preparation and you can pick it up at the garage on the way into school!!

I really don't see that it's an infringement of anyone's human rights to say that mars bars and coke aren't allowed in lunchboxes! It's like those bonkers people who feed their children Big Macs through the school fence when Jamie Oliver had changed the menu.
