Year 3 child unhappy because of old year 2 teacher

In year 2 the teacher was giving some students a hard time. We were warned by other parents that she was to be avoided if possible. Anyway the kids moved on this year. My grandson was picked on particularly along with others that they'd done X y z every day. It escalated luckily other teachers had seen what actually occurred and backed the children as did CCTV evidence.

The children now have a lovely teacher. She's fresh out of college with lots of ideas. Two weeks ago the old teacher barged into the classroom, screaming at my grandson about some transgression, the young teacher was left shaken, grandson, hysterical.

After two weeks we've been told that it's been sorted among that years staff. But if we want to escalate we can.

What on earth does that mean.

It's means yr3 has given a forced apology to yr2 and yr2, new, has smiled and nodded in the right places.

However if your gx parents aren't happy (has ds had an apology? How is he coping on school now?) then you can presumably complain formally about the yr3 teacher

It was the old year 2 teacher who was out of order bursting into a year three classroom

Does that teacher still have their job? Because I don't know of any primary school that allows such behaviour to go unchallenged

Still has her job because the head always backs her against the parents. She went off all through COVID because her husband was vulnerable so she couldn't afford to catch anything. When she came back was a basket case making the children use hand gel all day long. Some wound up at the GPs with eczema like symptoms.

She was a nervous wreck screaming at the children in the playground, went off again with stress which was welcomed by all.

You need to make an official complaint

eish · 14/03/2024 06:40

Agree, official complaint.

Spotty8 · 14/03/2024 06:46

Yep I’d make an official complaint here too.

Soontobe60 · 14/03/2024 06:55

If I were this teacher, I’d make an official complaint about you!
Maybe she ‘still has her job’ because the head knows that the parents are making false allegations against her. How on earth would you know what she did? Were you in the classroom when she ‘barged in screaming’? Have you been shown the CCTV footage? Or are you just spreading malicious gossip?
Many hundreds of thousands of people did not work during Covid - many teachers worked online. All schools had to use hand sanitiser when they reopened, it was advice from the DfE. Would you prefer the school to NOT follow such advice? How do you know about the hand gel anyway? Covid happened 4 years ago, Year 3 children wouldn’t even have been in school.
As for gloating in the fact that someone ended up off ill with stress - I have no words!

‘the young teacher was left shaken, grandson, hysterical.’
How on earth do you know this?

LittleBearPad · 14/03/2024 07:12

Why was the Yr3 teacher cross?

LIZS · 14/03/2024 07:35

Whose account are you basing this on?

How on earth do you know this?

Because the year three teacher said so

I would take that as it means they want you to escalate and complain. One person has said to the person you got the message from it's all sorted, that person disagrees so has passed the message on the you along with the message about escalating, as they can't tell you too complain but are implying it.

Don't know where to start with your neurosis but will have a go.

The hand gel hysteria was following COVID not four years ago.

The playground incident was witnessed by some mothers. The CCTV incident was seen by complaining parent who had seen it live.

This teacher has form going back years, complaints from parents.

The head is weak, luckily taking early retirement.

The hope is that a new head will have her number and she'll either leave or go on long term sick again to avoid the new head.

There are some wonderful teachers at the school the trick is to swerve this particular teacher.

Funnily enough saw one of the governors yesterday, asked her advice. She said exactly what you have said @Bramblecrumble22 that the teacher is nudging us to complain.

Why was year1 teacher angry at your dgs?

crumblingschools · 14/03/2024 14:30

If you complain you have to follow school's complaint policy

eveoha · 14/03/2024 14:35

Please for the sake of the children/pupils make a formal complaint directly to the governing body ☘️👍

First you have to go through the head teacher. Then the governing body which was advised yesterday by one of the governors

they are telling you to complain.
I would say that it would help the school to get rid of a teacher that they know has issues if they have complaints from parents.

They want you to complain. I say that as an ex governor and ex teacher.

There is a formal complaints proceedure which should be on school website, it will be head first, and then if you are not satisfied, governing body

What did the year 1 teacher have to do with it all?!

Complain to the governors if you’re unhappy with the head’s response.

There's an official process for complaints, even in your universe I imagine.
