Thought I’d set up a thread for those of us sitting our DS/DD for the 4+ in 2023 (for September 2024 start date). Anyone had any assessment day(s) yet?

Does anyone know when the schools request nursery report and when they will read them?

for schools with 1 round, would they read all of them to make the offer or just in borderline cases?

for schools with 2 rounds, would they read it after first round?

Hey please can anyone shed any light on what gets asked for NLCS 2nd round ? Please from any experience as I am not from North West London and have no relatives that have done 4plus before but any insight .. is it 1 to 1 etc would be helpful .

Thank you @ShrutiG it's the only school we have done that is NW and Highgate which we didn't get. Have you guys done the second round of habs yet ? If not good luck .

Ours was requested from the nursery before the assessment. Not sure when they are taken into account.

We’re waiting for Alleyn’s as well. Any insight on how the assessment went this year? I barely got anything from my DC other the being asked to write their name and doing a jigsaw and I’m a bit mystified!

DD told me they did Games with hoops and beanbags at Alleynes, and they talked about their friends. But who knows! At least it’s not long between assessment and results. We did JAGS in early Dec which feels years ago!

@Labradoodlie thanks for sharing. That’s interesting as I believe I remember the head mentioning they don’t do ‘physical’ type assessing anymore. Guess they do. I still can’t imagine how they fill the full hour and fifteen minutes. Seems intense for a 1:1 setting. I’m counting down until Friday. I bet they leave it until 5.55 to email out!

@Yeswoman123 my guess is that they are assessing how well they follow instructions, not sporting prowess. But I’m not sure!

My LO has Channing 2nd round on 17th. Can anyone share some details on the format of 2nd round of assessment.

Hello! Anyone here doing SHHS round 2? DD did last Friday and would t tell me much about it. But didn’t seem that it went that well from what she said. let’s hope it’s not all lost. Any idea what they look for in the girls? Thank you

@GNW3mum - my DD never tells me anything about her assessments either - its like they have told them to be secretive - she is usually quite chatty but when we ask her anything, she only ever says 'I don't know' or 'I don't remember'. Sometimes we might be able to get one or two activities from her but never does she tell us anything!!!

Can I please ask what did your DD say/do to make you believe she didn't do that well? I am sure she probably did better than you think! 😀

SHHS is so difficult to get in as there are so little places for the around 350 (or i heard it was even more) candidates......

@Discoverdock yes sure. First when we picked her up she said, well that interview didn’t go well. They asked me to colour and I didn’t want they ask me to do play doh and I didn’t want. And yesterday she said that the teacher told her she looked quite sleepy.

she was actually tired, so I don’t know. But I don’t have a good feeling…

she is very clever girl, but she has gotten into her head she wants to go to a different school, when I am super keen for SHHS and the avoidance of 11plus.
