book day dd went as a cat. her friend went to pull ehr tail in the dinner queue. dd turned and scratched her friend "like cats do" - friend now has a 3 inch long scratch on her throat. headteacher was there and dealt with it and she spoke to me in the playground at the bell (oh the shame)

i couldnt apologise enough to the mother and dd said sorry about a hundred times. but i know hte mother is very annoyed and i m so ashamed

dd went straight to her room - ive told erh she cnat go to a classmates birthday party on sunday - should i stick with that?

Its this blithering World Book Day - more trouble than it's worth! Although it is of course not right to scratch - I can understand your dd - blooming annoying to have someone tormenting your tail all day long!

God how ridiculous, it's a scratch, it'll heal.

She was a cat and should be commended for her character acting iMO

In fact I want to go and give her a big hug but I really don't like cats (they always scratch me ), definitely let her go to party and explain why you are allowing it - she is probably devastated and has learnt her lesson already.

Like many others on here, i think it would be a shame for her to miss the party.

Why don't you suggest that she makes a sorry card for the other girl...and then you could reward her for that by letting her go!

DS was quite badly bitten by another child. When i asked him why he hadn't stoped the other child he said 'he was being a dog - that's what dogs do!' as if it was the most obvious thing.

5 year-olds have a very slippery grasp on the difference between the imagined and the real. They think that things they have imagined are real. It was really unfair for her to get hauled to the Head - she made a nmistake, that's all.

Poor kitten!
