awww. Bet she is cute.

Blazer? school dresses?

nailpolish · 13/07/2007 15:03

oh i forgot about the school dresses. do all the girls wear them? i think ours are yellow. being the new girl in town is hard - i dont know what the norm is at this school!

i cant quite decide on a blazer. they are expensive and i dont know where to get a 2nd hand one. or even a new one

aitken and niven maybe on george street?

John Lewis surely.

snowwonder · 13/07/2007 15:06

does she need a blazer? think i have seen some in ASDA.....

she may not need a dress for this year as it will soon turn cold, she may only wear it for september?

have you got lunch box or is she having school dinners?

MrsBadger · 13/07/2007 15:07

have they broken up yet?

can you go and hang round the gates and assess what's the norm?

snowwonder · 13/07/2007 15:07

plimpsolls?

snowwonder · 13/07/2007 15:07

plimpsolls?

ProjectSeverus · 13/07/2007 15:07

apparently it is quite likely to be hot in august/september/october.

Will reserve judgement myself.

ProjectSeverus · 13/07/2007 15:07

chap a neighbours door and ask about school dresses.

snowwonder · 13/07/2007 15:07

one for each foot that why i posted twice- just in case

MrsBadger · 13/07/2007 15:08

(M&S skirts / shirts / polos etc often better than JL unless stockist is specified by school)

nailpolish · 13/07/2007 15:10

school holidays started 2 wks ago MrsB

hi MrsA, hows the gorgeous dd's? my 2 slept for ages when we got home!

i dont think aitken and niven do this school - but i heard some mutterings about clan house? i need to find where it is

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/07/2007 15:12

im not convinced re school dresses tbh. dd is happy with the idea of a skirt and polo shirt or shirt and tie so ill leave it at that.

its just more expense isnt it?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/07/2007 15:13

oh yes lunch box. its half days only til sept so dont need that immediately but ive added it to list

OP posts:
snowwonder · 13/07/2007 15:15

she will be fine with skirt and top my dd prefers this combi as she finds the dresses to hot....
you can pick them up for about £5.00 in asda/tesco, and they might be being reduced now,

sometimes adams do 2 for 3 offers on uniform

ProjectSeverus · 13/07/2007 15:17

dds great. DD2 slept for hours after lunch. dd1 ran all the way home. Then danced about for hours. Then wouldn't go to bed due to a rogue haribo found in an old party bag at 4.30pm

ProjectSeverus · 13/07/2007 15:18

oh yeah clan house, forgot about them. They do all the kilted girls schools iirc.

nailpolish · 13/07/2007 15:30

lol @ rogue haribo

so my list is fine? how many shirts will i need? should i get 2 skirts?

oh nearly forgot shoes

pe kit would consist of
shorts
top
plimsolls

whatever you buy- keep the reciept so that in the last week of the holidays you can go and get the next size up- kids ALWAYS shoot up in the summer holidays!

nailpolish · 13/07/2007 16:01

OMG my DS starts in Sept, hadn't thought about getting half that stuff?

Don't they just use the class pencils etc in reception?

GoneWest · 25/07/2007 14:11

We've been told DD needs 'daps'. Never heard of the things before! We've worked out that they are plimsolls, but are now wondering whether we are already out of touch with the way the kids speak - is it just me or is this a completely new word...

MintChocChippyMinton · 25/07/2007 14:15

daps is ancient LOL
