Just that really, I know schools found out today. Will we?

DS has been taunted by a boy in class boasting about how his own scores would be better than DS'. I told him to nod and ignore, but he was upset by it.

The other boy told DS his scores the other day, which happen to be lower than DS'. Rather than boast back, DS said he told the other boy 'well done!' and walked away.

THIS is the boy I'm proud of, not because he scored well in a test, but because he has humility and is always kind and aware of others' feelings.

We got a little explanatory note about 100 being the expected level and also said what the average scaled scores were in 2016.

A bit mystified by the teacher assessment vs the scores but the note we got does make it clear that 'greater depth' is only available for writing.

WobblyLondoner · 07/07/2017 16:21

Ps we got ours today with the end of year report.

Lovely report even though the head described my son as enduring .. I like to think he meant endearing!!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 07/07/2017 16:23

DS2 got 120 writing, 120 reading and 117 maths. We are delighted. He is a tad miffed about his maths Hmm

birdlover1977 · 07/07/2017 16:54

I'm so proud of my DS. He has ASD and has really struggled in school. He got 113 for Reading 103 for SPAG and 98 for Maths. He didn't achieve the expected standard for writing.

Piratefairy78 · 07/07/2017 19:52

I am so proud of my DS. He's the youngest in the year and has struggled this year with his peers. His score in SPAG of 98 is so much more than we expected. 18 months ago we were discussing with his YR5 teacher that he may not achieve a score.

I would just like to say how heart warming all these posts are about how proud you are of your kids no matter what their marks are. It's putting a tear in my eye to see how much you all cherish your DC's for who they are. I've been working in a y6 class all year in preparation for teacher training in september, and due to the nature of the area, no matter what their score was a significant proportion of parents couldn't care less. They have little interest in their child's development and it's truly heartbreaking. I'm loving seeing you all gush at how much you cherish your kids, it'll mean so much to them.

Are any schools giving out raw scores?

Tinkly a scaled score of 117 in maths means he got 107/110. 120 is impressive, but it can be achieved by dropping the same number of questions.

I wonder how many children nationally got 120/maximum marks across the board? It would be interesting to see what happens regarding their targets.

Ours came out tonight. My dh collected them as it has been school induction this week.

She did well. I haven't told her. She hasn't asked. She did well, she did her best and she was where I expected her to be. Luckily she wasn't there when some of her other peers got theirs and next week they are at residential so far more exciting things than sats results to talk about.

MrGrumpy01 · 07/07/2017 20:12

I've got raw score and scaled.

Acornantics · 07/07/2017 20:13

We were given raw scores, but only by looking online could I see what the scores were out of.

Tilapia · 07/07/2017 22:37

We got raw scores as well as scaled.

glitterlips1 · 07/07/2017 23:32

Our school don't give them out to parents! We got our school reports today and there were no mention of SATs results.

altiara · 08/07/2017 00:49

Did anyone's DC get a scaled score above 100 and get teacher assessment to say working below expected? DD scored 106 and has been working above expected all year/higher maths group but out of nowhere teacher said working below.
Would it be rude to ask her to recheck her assessment?
Teachers also rated her as at expected for reading when she scored low in the exams and it's been a struggle for her.
So not sure if her teacher had got the report wrong or really wrong. Her teacher is lovely and I don't want her to have to go back and recheck all of her work but I really think she's got it wrong. I am going to ask her, any tips on how to make it sound less like you've got this wrong! Blush

mrz · 08/07/2017 06:16

Once again there is a marking controversy with schools asking for the tests to be checked

This example was posted on social media with many teachers reporting errors across all subjects

what does "working at greater depth within the expected standard" mean - writing.

does that mean she got the highest level?

got to say it was much easier to comprehend with levels 4, 5, 6 !

mrz · 08/07/2017 07:36

It means the teacher thinks she's a very good writer

mrz · 08/07/2017 12:39

Marking is a joke!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 08/07/2017 12:41

We have parents evening next week, have been told that we will get SATs results then.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 08/07/2017 12:48

My DS had a temp job marking. He said people were making a lot of errors.

mrz · 08/07/2017 12:50

Teachers are spending hours going through papers because of the errors and schools have to pay for re marking unless it changes the outcome.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 08/07/2017 12:59

DS did the marking in a big room with lots of other people. The criteria was that you had to have had a degree in the last 5 years. They did random quality control checks on the accuracy of the marking and weeded out the worst offenders. But DS was a quite shocked by the errors being made given that it's not rocket science.

He didn't mark DS2's by the way😄

mrz · 08/07/2017 13:06

That's not how SATs are marked ...the papers are optically scanned and digitally marked on line. In the case of reading tests the markers are responsible for specific questions not whole papers but all are done on line.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 08/07/2017 13:11

Yes they were scanned on to the computer, but humans clicked the yey or nay box.

Unless my DS1 was totally lying about his temp job for 3 weeks.Hmm

mrz · 08/07/2017 13:17

It's not normally in a big room
