I know it's not 9:00 yet, but if you go to the website you can get your application results now. I just did, and I am so so so so glad we got in to the school of our choice. Ok, WE didn't get in, DD did.

Yippee!!!!!

per year of the bulge I mean

Eleusis · 02/04/2007 13:47

So if you are applying a year after the bulge, you are probably stuffed because there will be more syblings to compete with.

Worse 2 or 3 years after the bulge, I would think, in terms of siblings.

The school provision increased massively round here (Barnes/Sheen/Kew) the year DS1 started school, so September 2002. Barnes Primary (then Westfields) went from 1 to 2 form entry, a new 1 form entry school started at Kew Riverside and a new 2 form entry school in Sheen/Richmond (Marshgate) - so 120 more places. But that's obviously still not enough.

foxinsocks · 02/04/2007 14:23

yes, this year's intake is also bad because it was bad 2 and 3 years ago so there's a knock on sibling effect

amidaiwish · 02/04/2007 14:41

foxinsocks - do you know if the nursery children at St.J get automatic entry to reception?

xoxo · 02/04/2007 16:41

Amida: I don't think it is automatic, but it sure helps, so I've heard.
Then again, it v difficult to get into StJ's nursery isn't it? My friend is waiting to hear. Her ds1 just got into St J's so her fingers are tightly crossed.

O.N. has got a mtg tonight on bulge classes. Even if they agree to it, we are still a fair few places off so it may not help. But it does increase our chances (from nil!) and may ease up places elsewhere. So - out of 230 'displaced' kids, that woudl leave a mere 200 to place

xoxo · 02/04/2007 16:41

Foxy - you are right. I've done a lot of research and it's a 3 yr cycle.

amidaiwish · 02/04/2007 21:57

thanks xoxo
we are waiting to hear about St J's nursery too.
the thing is having DD at the nursery will make my work impossible (at the moment she does 3 full days at private nursery...) but if it means she will get into St J then i am happy to put up with it and work something out.
however if it won't make any difference then i will keep her where she is
then again the likelihood of her getting in is very low i think.

thing is nobody seems to know. the school says you have to re-apply. however, i don't know if this is a formality or not. guess i should just wait and see, may not be even relevant!

mapleleaf · 04/04/2007 11:55

I heard Orleans agreed to take on a bulge class.

xoxo · 04/04/2007 21:16

yep, they did. letters out next week to those who will now be offered a place.

There's also talk of a bulge at Stanley, and merging it with teh linked school adjacent.

amidaiwish · 04/04/2007 22:38

what's the school adjacent to Stanley?

Eleusis · 05/04/2007 07:52

So, who gets into the bulge classes then? Do they take x number of the displaced kids? Or do they apply the entrace criteria to all of the applicants again, hence having to adjust offers already made?

OP posts:
paranoidaboutschools · 05/04/2007 12:52

As far as I know there is only Stanley Infants and Stanley Juniors, and most of the infants transfer after the infants (after yr2) to the Juniors for year 3 (and onwards). They're officially two separate schools with different headteachers and staff but really sort of "merged" already.

Otherwise I can only think of St James's which is not far away. But that being a Catholic school they probably wouldn't merge?

Stanley has quite a large intake anyway with 90 so that would mean 120?

But xoxo, maybe you meant sth different? Any other schools that take bulge classes? Would be great if you could keep us informed, even though I'm not affected this year.

Good luck for you and hope you get a place at a good school near you.

mapleleaf · 05/04/2007 13:19

xoxo- i hope orleans taking a bulge class means you get it !!!

holy trinity (sheen/richmond)is also taking a bulge class.

xoxo · 05/04/2007 18:41

Ahhh, Holy Trinity - THAT was the one that way. There's also talk of a bulge Teddington way. Thta's all I know about that one.

Yes - the talk is merger of the two Stanleys, possibly with a viw to adding more classes. Also talk of adding extra class to St Marys Key Stage 2 site on Richmond Rd to cater for teh extra pupils at Orleans and feed through demand from St Mary's infants. I understand that both these plans require a capital funds application to DfE which LBRichmond will do as soon as consultation with govenors etc is over. Either way LBRichmond have now seen clearly that new classes must be made available.

In my opinion three should have been a new school on the Brunel site, but Council accepted a different section 106 agreement or a sum instead which, rumour has it (don't knwo if this is true but have now heard it from 3 different people), went to help fund the ballet school in Richmond Park.

Orleans bulge class will, I believe be offered to those on the original list, based on original ranking but taking out those who have accepted their second choice/ gone private. Everyone with an offer had to accept it by the 2nd April.

Even with bulge, we are still quite a bit away from getting into Orlenas - but a mum can always dream

That's as much as I know I'm afraid. I can advise that if anyone wnats to know more pls contact yr ward councillor - this is the sort of thing they are good at. Honestly. Forget teh MP - they are too busy to get involved in this level.

Hope that helps anyone. I'll add anything as and when I find out.

xoxo · 06/04/2007 12:20

also heard taht there's talk of a bulge at Trafalgar - have i mentioned that before

amidaiwish · 07/04/2007 10:50

good news!

xoxo · 10/04/2007 15:55

Hello - we got a place at O.I.

Would love to stand around and chat but am too busy singing and dancing and warming to the sibling rule.....

I hope you all get good news. Places are being relaesed now and confirmed later this week.

For those who have not got a place - talk with your ward councillors, and prepare to FIGHT. Good luck.

susie40 · 10/04/2007 18:11

Fantastic news, xoxo!

amidaiwish · 10/04/2007 18:38

oh well done! what a relief for you

we are waiting to hear about nursery places......... still don't know if that will actually help with getting in to reception or not!

xoxo · 10/04/2007 20:17

good luck at StJ's jumior!

xoxo · 11/04/2007 15:41

just heard from a friend that the two stanley schools are to be rebuilt as one big school, with an extra classroom.
she says it's from a local councillor and that both school govenors ahve agreed to it.

surely good news for Richmond schools?

foxinsocks · 11/04/2007 15:43

wow, well done xoxo

xoxo · 11/04/2007 15:54

The other school which has agreed to an extra class is Holy Trinity in North Richmond/Sheen, and Darrel in Richmond has agreed to take extra pupils into its mixed age classes (which can go up to 43 I gather).

singersgirl · 11/04/2007 16:01

That's great news for you. So what will happen to the other 90 or so children (I've lost count!) who still don't have places? Or do they think the private schools will absorb them? I guess there are lots of double applications for eg church and maintained schools, as well as private and state.
