So that is two term time holidays you are doing... all in one year... seems a bit much...

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 09:42

the 1st holiday for 10 days was yes. and this one is for 2 days in term time as price doubles

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 28/04/2017 09:49

Yes, you can expect to be fined.

Even under the old rules, the max in a school year for holidays was 10 days and you are planning to exceed that.

BrieAndChilli · 28/04/2017 09:55

Doesn't matter what her attendance has been SINCE the last holiday, it's the total over the year.
As you are taking a second holiday in the same year and it's going to take you over the 10 days and you have already been fined I would expect either a much bigger fine or a visit from the 'truancy officer' or whatever they are called nowadays

user789653241 · 28/04/2017 09:55

It's really up to you, as long as you are prepared to pay fine.

Thing is, it's same for all the people, about high prices during actual school holidays.

Some people do and some don't. I wouldn't, but I wouldn't judge who does, since I may do it in the future.

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 09:58

her attendance at her old school was 100% where she was up until November 16

Snap8TheCat · 28/04/2017 10:01

If you can afford two holidays in 5 months then you can afford one holiday in the school holidays.

user789653241 · 28/04/2017 10:05

I find it very irritating when people try to justify themselves by saying "dc's attendance was 100% before holiday", etc.
Just do it, if you want to. And deal with the consequence. It's your choice.
There are some children who can't have 100% attendance, even they try their best, due to chronic illness like mine.

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 10:26

her attendance is 85.5 % a current school as the school have just confirmed i wont be getting a dine as the council only fine for anything over 4 days. so all good to go school even said enjoy :)

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/04/2017 10:37

Yikes, that almost one in six days off.

2014newme · 28/04/2017 10:42

Gosh she has really poor attendance, 85% is bad without a medical issue. I'm guessing she's not at the top of the class!

2014newme · 28/04/2017 10:43

Yes son average she's off for 1.5 days every fortnight!

Nothing against taking time out school for holidays in principle but in your case I wouldn't

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 10:45

shes above average actually

Sirzy · 28/04/2017 10:45

With such poor attendance why on earth are you even contemplating more unneeded time off?

unfortunateevents · 28/04/2017 10:46

Twice in one year is taking the P...!

user789653241 · 28/04/2017 10:54

Above average you say, but it really depends on each school/cohort....

2014newme · 28/04/2017 11:01

If she wasn't having 1.5 days off school every fortnight she could be at the top then. Above average only means, if using a median, in the top 15 out of 30 kids.
Her attendance (note how to spell it) can't be above average surely?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/04/2017 11:05

I have to admit though DS had similar attendance in nursery in winter term but he had chicken pox, alongside all the rest of the class.

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 11:27

why on earth would people actually write on here god i wish i didn't Friendly advice .The school have said its okay for her not to be in school for 2 days theirs a lot worse people out there with children who have below 60% and have a lovely holiday and i wont get a fine so why on earth would people take advice from the likes of you people. one time write on here will defiantly be the last. I WILL ENJOY MY HOLIDAY

Sirzy · 28/04/2017 11:31

Good point, why on earth would someone ask if they didn't actually want to listen to the responses Hmm

ToffeeCaramel · 28/04/2017 11:32

How would they know if you said she was off sick for the two days?

katieb13 · 28/04/2017 11:34

i would rather be honest

unfortunateevents · 28/04/2017 11:45

So why did you post then specifically asking for advice?!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 28/04/2017 12:02

You asked, we answered, you disregarded answers. Why on earth ask?

harderandharder2breathe · 28/04/2017 16:01

85% is very poor attendance, barring medical reasons

You said you won't be fined so why are you posting?
