3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2017

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those parents involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas.

Same here . Your DD sitting the NLCS 7+ today ?

Qureshi41 · 15/01/2017 08:37

Not today, as far as I know first round at NLCS for 7+ is on 19 th Jan, next Thursday.

mumteacher · 15/01/2017 08:41

Most schools will ask for some kind of report from nurseries to help the decision making process. I anticipate JAGS would've requested reports for all chn who sat assessments.

Habs 7+ second round make sure you have a couple of questions you have ready to ask each of the teachers if / when required.
Make sure your ready to answer questions re your dad likes and dislikes.
Tell your ddd the format so that she doesn't fuss and can sit through at least 30 mins of meeting time.

Has anyone heard from NLCS, wait is driving me nuts :(

Functoriality · 16/01/2017 12:24

Just found this thread. Waiting to hear back from NLCS too.

LilaGrace · 16/01/2017 12:25

Dearesttwo · 16/01/2017 13:59

We are also waiting to hear from NLCS...

Bluestarrysky · 16/01/2017 14:02

Yes me too i hope they let us know today !

Functoriality · 16/01/2017 14:34

I thought NLCS was going to let us know tomorrow. Do they normally email a day earlier?

LilaGrace · 16/01/2017 14:36

NLCS will let us know by email by the end of today, they told me (on the phone an hour ago, when I couldn't stand it any longer...!)- regardless of whether it's a yes or a no. Good luck everyone 🤞

shopgal9 · 16/01/2017 14:44

LilaGrace thanks for checking, I couldn't get myself to call them , it's almost 3 so few more hours, all the best ladies X

Dearesttwo · 16/01/2017 14:49

You are a star LilaGrace! Good luck!

Bluestarrysky · 16/01/2017 14:50

Thanks Lilagrace

LilaGrace · 16/01/2017 14:51

No problem shopgal and dearest! I neurotically withheld my number when I called them so they wouldn't get annoyed and strike a big black X through my DD's name!

LilaGrace · 16/01/2017 14:52

...and Blue

Mummywow · 16/01/2017 14:55

LilaGrace · 16/01/2017 14:56

Functoriality · 16/01/2017 15:03

Dearesttwo · 16/01/2017 15:30

This is the last one for us, we are going for round no.2 at Habs

Functoriality · 16/01/2017 15:58

We just got our rejection letter from NLCS :-(

All the best to the rest of you.

shopgal9 · 16/01/2017 16:13

We just got invited for second round at NLCS, really sorry to hear Functoriality :(

Functoriality · 16/01/2017 16:42

I was expecting a rejection from NLCS tbh. Although my dd is wonderfully bright, creative and curious (in my opinion as a v biased mother :-) ), she is also v reserved with strangers, and unlikely to perform well in an assessment setting. She is not shy once she is comfortable in her social environment (like at her nursery), so I need to find a place which will let her shine at her own pace. I hope I don't let her down.
