SCREAM!! I have 2 Dc going through them at the moment one in Y6 and the other Y2. If I see one more practice paper from years gone by or one more print out in 6 year old Dd's school bag putting pressure on to learn ASAP as if her life depends on it. If one more of my Dc come in extremely stressed because they can't get their writing perfect when their bodies can not physically do it I am going to declare a SATS strike at home!...and a strict diet of fun stuff only! Grin

I had Ds's Y6 CT tell me how worried she is about his SATS last week, it was so hard for me to bite my tongue because I know he will do just fine (I'm 100% confident) and they have been telling me for years that he is perfectly capable, their league table will not be affected what so ever, and all her hard work WILL pay off. Its the drilling that is causing the issues....sigh....and now for a nice Brew and some Cake...

Quiero That's awful, I don't think my DC's school are that bad but Dd 6 did come out of school very tearful the other day because she couldn't get her spellings right and the CT looked cross Hmm bless her.

Daryl if the Dc were being taught appropriately they would know everything with or without the SATS. As far as I am concerned they are just unnecessary stress for all involved. I have no intentions of piling on the pressure at home too.

Gosh I didn't know about the neatness.

I think it's cruel. I've been in Sen ed for 9 years now so out of loop.

I was an excellent drawer but not great at handwriting - I find it physically hard. I think I'd have become terribly anxious out that. Later on I tried because I wanted to, and got into calligraphy. But because I wanted to.

I really worry about how these kids will grow up constantly u set pressure. The most we had were spelling tests.

And it hasn't affected my career in teaching (neither has my fine art degree - actually enhanced it imo)

I wish this government would get a grip.

I learnt what verbs were when I had to teach them for the first time. (Probably made me teach it better!)
