Water bottles that don't leak!

Has anyone ever found one?
I'm after a non leaking bottle for DS to take to school in September and I'm so fed up with them leaking over everything. Has anyone found one? Do they exist?!

Thanks & sorry for dull post!

Our first batch of Sistema bottles were fantastic and lasted an absolute age with no trouble whatsoever. Have recently bought 3 new ones because the lids of the old ones were looking a bit "chewed" and 2 of them leak from the spout even when fully shut and the third broke yesterday when the twister bit just broke off. Very disappointed!

ConcreteElephant · 12/07/2015 22:34

I'm convinced Sistema have changed something...

Dear Sistema,

Your bottles were great. Everyone had them. They didn't leak. Now they are not great. They leak and break. Word is spreading. Please fix.

Love
Concrete

Any bottle is fine (since they all bloody leak) but put it in a zip lock freezer bag. That way when it does leak there are no disasters.

Yahooatemyaccount · 12/07/2015 22:41

Best by far non leaking bottles are washed small fizzy drinks / mineral water bottles with screw caps. Cheap as chips and never leak into school bags and homework. Not posh, trendy or covered with expensive sports logos but they just don't leak and you can chuck them into the recycling bin when you're done and for the price of a soft drink buy another.

OMGmetoo · 12/07/2015 22:44

One green bottle with the straw lid. Absolutely no leaks.

locketpocket · 12/07/2015 22:47

Sistema used to be my preferred brand, but quality isn't the same as it used to be.

Nike the best by far, and rrp £12, sports direct have them for £6

DonkeyOaty · 12/07/2015 23:04

Lakeland bung-top
We have one, best part of five years. Is fab. Properly leak proof. And less than a fiver.

nutelladipper · 12/07/2015 23:16

Oh ok sistema no fairing so well.
I like the idea of reusing a normal bottle! Nothing like a bit of recycling hey!

After 10 years of testing out every drinks bottle on the market I finally discover Sistema bottles that don't leak Grin
Available in Asda, Waitrose and Wilkinsons as well as online.
You won't regret it!

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 12/07/2015 23:22

Sistema here too
Sainsbury Asda or Amazon
Love them

BellMcEnd · 12/07/2015 23:22

Camelbak Chute. Brilliant and I too had despaired at ever finding the perfect water bottle living the dream

madoldwoman · 13/07/2015 07:05

Concreteelephant - yes they've definitely changed. Our old bottles were made from quite thick plastic that was fairly rigid and it was quite difficult to see the water level through. The new ones are much thinner plastic which is quite see through and squishy, even with water in. Shame they changed, because they had the perfect product before they did.

Aladdin bottles are good, certainly the adult ones, but they're quite bulky and heavy and also expensive.

NoParking · 13/07/2015 07:11

One Green Bottle. I tested it by putting a full one upside down over a piece of paper overnight, not a drop came out. Only issue is that if you put it in the dishwasher the coloured jacket comes off, but that's just cosmetic. Dd1 has had the same one since YR and it's still going strong (and not lost, as no-one else has a metal bottle so its distinctive).

BikeRunSki · 13/07/2015 07:14

I find Sistema bottle leak quite easily....

WankerDeAsalWipe · 13/07/2015 08:52

we have used these ones for years:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004JA1QNW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Original ones are still going strong after about 7 years - constantly in the dishwasher, never leak and spout is hard plastic so seems to survive the chewing.

We don't use the cold tubes in them - I just keep those in the freezer for handy freezer sticks for cool bags.

bikeandrun · 13/07/2015 09:04

Just the normal cycling ones, they say Hi 5 on the side, they never leak if your children are old enough to shove the nozzle back down and don't chew ! For younger children and chewers never really solved this one!

WankerDeAsalWipe · 13/07/2015 09:15

see above bikeandrun - both mine were nozzle chewers, the Cool Gear ones seemed to defy it all. DS1 still has his original one (after we had tried all the rest) and he is now 15 and it still doesn't leak and the spout is intact. He takes a packed lunch so still uses it daily. DS2 is on replacements but only because he loses everything - his original lasted about 4 years before it was lost - he has lost another 3 since....

DeeWe · 13/07/2015 09:55

These don't leak after a year of using pretty roughly:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Avex-Contigo-Kids-Spill-Proof-Auto-Spout-Autospout-Sports-Drinks-Water-Bottle-/200939477298?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2ec8ed1932#ht_525wt_1161

Quite expensive but I've found worth it.

Also cheaper-you can get them at Sports Direct, had a coupe of these for 2 or 3 years and still going strong. You can also put them in the freezer and freeze the bottom half (lid off while freezing) to have an icy drink most of the day.

Thanks all. Looks like there are some clear favourites! Which is reassuring. I'll get buying!
Thanks

Sistema ones are good, but can look a bit chewed after a while. The best one we've ever had is a Sigg - pricey, but worth it. I'll be buying DD a new Sigg for september as hers is a little dented, but it still doesn't leak!

Pinkcloud6 · 14/07/2015 13:01

I find only the hard sistema bottles good now. ( slightly bigger with a mottled finish)

Sigg are great. They never leak but are massive.

vvviola · 14/07/2015 13:05

We've never had trouble with Sistema ones except for the times I put them in the dishwasher

But, we also keep water bottle on the outside of school bags, in the pocket that's designed for them. Partly because then any leak is only on the outside, and partly because DD1 was such a nightmare at leaving her water bottle behind that I could see at a glance when she came out of school and send her back in for it Grin

vvviola · 14/07/2015 13:06

Oh yes, good point Pinkcloud those are the ones we use now - I do have memories of one of the tiny ones that DD2 had leaking a bit (but I did blame the dishwasher trip for that)

mrsmortis · 14/07/2015 13:11

We use SIGG from their kids collection which have never leaked. The only issue we've ever had was down to a child not closing them properly and that's only happened once.

nutelladipper · 14/07/2015 15:35

Ours just use a book bag so there is no separate pocket to keep them in which is a pain.
