DS came out of school yesterday in a dirty nappy.

I'm not sure if i should complain about it or not, they are normally good with changing him. I realise it's near the end of term and they are doing different more fun things like watching videos, so maybe the TA wasn't near him. I need a few opinions, do i treat this as a one off or do i make a complaint?

I've cross posted this in SN chat too as i know the two sections are very quiet but are both relevant.

Will bump this up now.
I know it's not done to revive zombie threads but chances are at least a few people will be going through this again at the start of this term and the advice given here is very good.

It could be that it happened just before they finished for the day and they didnt have time to notice? If you are happy with all other matters I would let it go. If it happens again you might want to mention it to them but I wouldnt 'complain' unless you think they are not being attentive enough?

Javabeansaintgeorge · 28/08/2016 06:25

When this happened to my son (ASD) last year i left a message to the TA in his communication book.
he wasn't dirty though just really wet.

Javabeansaintgeorge · 28/08/2016 06:26

Blush i see this is an old thread and i've already posted.

Jaderuby · 28/08/2016 08:20

I would ask anyone whose child is late at toilet training to not worry. The school will be very understanding.

Manicmonkey · 28/08/2016 12:53

Most of the time these days they are understanding, but there ares till people who need to fight for their right to give their child the same education as everyone else.

Jaderuby · 28/08/2016 13:27

Very true unfortunately manic.

Javabeansaintgeorge · 29/08/2016 08:44

not all schools are bad, ours was very helpful.

Javabeansaintgeorge · 29/08/2016 08:51

They even made sure we knew about the entitlement to free nappies over the age of 5.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 29/08/2016 12:04

Would this be better in SN chat OP?

Javabeansaintgeorge · 29/08/2016 12:20

It's an old thread Jason

Jasonandyawegunorts · 29/08/2016 18:25

oh, never mind then.

Jaderuby · 30/08/2016 07:27

It's a good thread for people with little ones in nappies starting school to see, in the first week or two you will get this problem happening.

Javabeansaintgeorge · 04/09/2016 12:41

I'm not sure that would work JADER

Javabeansaintgeorge · 04/09/2016 12:42

it might be better to start a new thread.

cressetmama · 04/09/2016 20:14

When did children not finish toilet training before starting school? DS, not a quick learner, was out of nappies before starting kindergarten. Surely, this is not a teacher's responsibility, but a parents?

Sleeperandthespindle · 04/09/2016 20:26

Cresset - many children have medical or other additional needs that mean toilet training, amongst other areas of development, happen later than is typically expected of children without such needs.

Someone didn't read the OP or the thread then.

How old was he, keep in mind nursery school starts from 2 and school at just 4 years.
