I know legally the ratio is 1:30 in reception. How many staff are in your schools reception class? Our school has been put into special measures. Whats good practice? We have 1 Teacher and 1 TA

One teacher and one TA for each class of 24-25 children. It was also put into special measures recently, no idea if this was the case before.

There was 1 teacher, one general TA and an additional TA for children requiring particular support. This continued throughout KS1. There were also 3 learning mentors in a special unit who could support where needed. 30 children.

'Outstanding' school in innner-city London.

There's 3 classes in reception. For each class there is one teacher and 1 TA. On top of that I think there's usually an extra TA or two or trainee teachers/student/people wanting experience for pgce type things floating about between the classes.

30 in class and one teacher and one ta

ShadeofViolet · 16/09/2013 17:17

We have 1 teacher, 1 TA and a TA who works with 1 particular child. 29 children.

spanieleyes · 16/09/2013 17:29

22 children, 1 teacher, 1 TA and a 1:1 support

MaireadnotMermaid · 16/09/2013 17:31

Staff ratio is one qualified teacher to 30, as far as I know. I don't think TAs are included in the count.

MrsTittleMouse · 16/09/2013 17:32

30 children, 1 teacher, 2 TAs, but one of those TAs will be part-time in the class after Christmas.

headsspinningforachange · 16/09/2013 17:33

1 Teacher & 1 TA , class of 12

redskyatnight · 16/09/2013 17:51

1 teacher, 1 nursery nurse, 0.5 TA per class of 30 (TA shared between 2 classes, not half a person!)

gintastic · 16/09/2013 17:53

Class of 17, 1 teacher and 1 TA

DD was in reception last year with 90 kids in one big room with 3 teachers and 3 TAs.

The EYFS Head also took some classes in there.

1 teacher and 1 TA, PAN is 30 per class and they are slightly under that at present.

Hulababy · 16/09/2013 18:40

We have three reception classes. Each has between 28-30 children at the moment. Each class has a teacher plus a FT level 3 TA.

TwllBach · 16/09/2013 18:43

Two Reception classes, one teacher in each and two full times assistants. Both classes have around 25 children in.

2 teachers and 8 TA's at last count it's a foundation unit with 50 children in all.Lots of additional needs and children with statements. Throughout the school there is, as a rule, 1 teacher and 3 TA's per class (1 class TA and 2 SENTA's)

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 16/09/2013 19:43

1 teacher, one ta and a nursery nurse as foundation stage are all in together, there's usually about 15 kids in each day depending how many nursery kids are in that day.

SandStorm · 16/09/2013 19:44

1 teacher, 1 TA, half form entry (ie. 15 children).

Periwinkle007 · 16/09/2013 19:58

1 teacher and 1 TA. 32 children. additional TA for special needs 1to1

Galena · 16/09/2013 20:20

Approx 22/24 children

1 teacher and 1 TA - however that TA is actually DD's 1:1 so there should be another TA too, which will be followed up in the next few weeks by the Advisory Teacher.
