I can't remember what DS1 had even though it was only 3 years ago.

I am sure there is a note from school somewhere if I rummage. Blush

Calculators are supplied I know that.

Don't forget a ruler.

dd says it's all provided here.

Forgot the ruler Sand. Blush Thanks

Back I don't know whether I like the 3 tier system or not. It's not what I am used to. It's funny that some of his friends are leaving this Year to start at Secondarys that start in Year 7, and he will do another year.

First School is R-Yr5 so the youngest at the Middle School is 9 making it a whole different feel to the school.

I'm assuming our school provide it all - we haven't been asked to send anything in, and it wouldn't have entered my head that they would not.

Of course, DS1 may bring a letter home tonight requesting supplies!

We had a SATS info Q&A evening so i know we definitely have to supply the stuff. I should have put my hand up then.

Wait! They need clear pencil cases????

My girl's school hasn't said anything about fecking clear pencil cases!

Bollocks! I'd best go to the shops

Check first Catelyn. Grin In case it's just DS's school. I am not sure a pencil case is even required, but he takes his normal one every day anyway.

We are off to Staples tomorrow for decent pencils and erasers.

We had a meeting but I wasn't really listening Grin. My youngest is my third to go through this malarkey and she's pretty organised so she probably would have said something. She's off sick today though so I just hope we don't have a crisis at 8am Monday morning when she's remembered something VITAL

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2013 15:22

Grin I was half asleep in the meeting. i remember we have to get them to bed early and give them a good breakfast though.

As a year 6 teacher I am rather shocked by

a) parents having to supply pencils and other equipment,

and

b) clear pencil cases? What is that all about?

I do know they need a black pen for the SPAG test but our school is providing those as well.

Our yer 6 teacher put in an emergency stationery order yesterday for 120 pencils and 60 rubber. Ss burst i was [::-O at the expense and that fact that none realised eats are next week until today:-D

We have supplied everything since Year 5 cece. It was the same when DS1 was there.

Clear pencil cases are so that you can't secrete any revision notes inside. Wink

Never heard of a state primary school asking for pens and pencils! We supply everything apart from the brains, the children need to bring their own! We also buy new equipment every year, new pens and pencils, this year calculators and mirrors! The children like having new equipment for the tests!
( we also have a free breakfast club, fun games and breakfast)
All this is pretty standard round here!

I suppose if 300+ children bring in their own stationery that's quite a significant cost saving for the school.

I think if they hadn't brought something in the school could supply them perhaps.

They need mirrors for the SATs tests?

Report
spanieleyes · 10/05/2013 18:32

Yes, for symmetry questions. ( and to play with afterwards!)

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2013 18:37

To reflect on their fabulous results. Grin

We don't do breakfast clubs though.

Although we do have an postSATs waterfight on the school field. Smile

We had to supply our own, but no nonsense about clear pencil cases. I mean, do they think these 11yos are going to cheat? Shock

Shows how ridiculously overrated the stupid SATs are.

The clear pencil cases are rediculous. They are definitely not in the written instructions for administering the tests.

Sad at cheaty 11 year olds. We have definitely been told about the clear pencil cases.

DS2 has had the homework pile from hell tonight too. Sats Papers, spellings etc. Sad

Well, he is back, no list of things he needs to take in.

Just to have a rest over the weekend, (not going to happen, he is off to Wembley) and to have a breakfast of cards in the mornings before school!

No homework or anything.
