What can we do with redundant reading scheme books?

Last year our infant school changed the entire reading scheme with money raised by the PTA. This means that we have hundreds of old fashioned Ginn 360 readers which are now not used by school. (I'm not a teacher but I don't think they are compatible with current phonic teaching methods.) Some of the books have been sold off individually to children within the school but there are loads left over. Would they be useful to some sort of educational charity, possibly overseas? I don't think our local charity shops would appreciate hundreds of very similar books, but on the other hand they must be useful to someone.... Any ideas? Thanks.

Offer them to Book Bus?

Thanks - that's just the kind of thing I was looking for. I'd never heard of them, but they look great. Will get in touch with them. Is there anything else similar?

I don't know anything about them - just Googling!

Often churches are connected to orphanages and/or schools in Third World countries. It may be worth checking locally if there is any project running where this would be appreciated.

My Ds brings these home to read from school, lovely little confidence builders.

Someone I know set up this charity build on books and I am sure that she would love the books if you are anywhere close by.

But not decodable readers, and ancient, too, hoodoo Smile

He brings home modern ones as well but he does seem to prefer these and finds them easy to decode.
They are very ancient though, 1988 the last ones he had!

Ebay to raise money for the PTA.

We sent some of our redundant books to a township school in South Africa and some to a school in Turkey where we have close links.
