To Kumon or not to Kumon. That is the question.

DD is starting school in September. Below are the Pros and Cons I have been debating recently.

  1. She is bright, so should be okay without extra help in school
  2. It is too early to put her through this
  3. Kumon is expensive and time consuming.

The Pros

  1. It may give her that bit of extra confidence at school
  2. Earlier is better as then she can grow with that system
  3. Its not so expensive as to be prohibitive.

I really cant decide either way. Please someone help?

But for some reason, some of us got deleted too. It's not fay-er.

Grin I didn't cos I was good [angelic look]

This whole thread has just got really stupid now. This is just how my daughter used to argue with her friends when she was twelve. I used to tell her to grow up, luckily she's grown out of it now.

mrz · 23/06/2012 21:29

With respect the thread hasn't just got stupid ... it was stupid from the start

Oh really, did your daughter's friends make nasty remarks about her children too? Confused

It's nothing like your daughter's friends, and your analogy is ridiculous - I would not want to use a talkboard where posters refused to challenge below the belt comments made about other posters' children because they were worried you would say they were childish, redglow.

Clam and I were deleted because we chose to say that it was vile behaviour to talk about a poster's child like that - and technically that's a personal attack too. But I stand by post - behaviour like that is out of order.

Feenie · 23/06/2012 21:32

MY post.

clam · 23/06/2012 21:46

And note also that it was the behaviour we said was vile, not the poster although...

Feenie · 23/06/2012 21:53

But obviously it's childish to stand up to bullies in some people's worlds Hmm

megabored · 23/06/2012 22:49

Maybe sometimes it's better to ignore bullies. Whatever poosh said, it showed her sense of morality. People would judge her. Not seekers daughter. Really. That's why I initially chose to ignore it. Not all battles are worth fighting for. Use your energy
On something worthwhile. Whatever she said, it did not make it true and if it was true, then it was not a nice thig to say and it made her look bad. Not seeker.

Sometimes it is better to ignore - but sometimes it is damn well right to challenge.

mrz · 24/06/2012 07:03

Its not easy to stand by and watch others being bullied

redglow · 24/06/2012 08:21

My point was I wanted to read about people's views on kumon instead you have to sift through quotes which have no relevance to the thread, I am sure there is a place to start a new thread for this.

The comment was said almost a week ago you complained it got deleted so it's the end of it. To keep going on is pointless its over and done with you are also drawing attention to it.

megabored · 24/06/2012 08:31

red I agree. There are some very good points made by posh too. I am bored of this squabble and those quotes too.

Oh I don't know redglow- some of the quotes on 'play' are probably relevant re learning through play etc- especially at 3 or 4 which is the age of the op's child. [However, I admit some of my quotes earlier on were completely irrelevant!].

redglow · 24/06/2012 09:15

Oh no here we go again ! Start a new thread please we don't all love quotes. I don't go on arts and crafts thread because I don't like it, but least I can choose.

SunflowersSmile · 24/06/2012 09:18

Great quotes mrz. Thanks.
Sorry redglow!!

redglow · 24/06/2012 09:21

I have a few quotes of my own but I am sure they would be deleted.
