To Kumon or not to Kumon. That is the question.

DD is starting school in September. Below are the Pros and Cons I have been debating recently.

  1. She is bright, so should be okay without extra help in school
  2. It is too early to put her through this
  3. Kumon is expensive and time consuming.

The Pros

  1. It may give her that bit of extra confidence at school
  2. Earlier is better as then she can grow with that system
  3. Its not so expensive as to be prohibitive.

I really cant decide either way. Please someone help?

Well of course I would but how could she know anything about her child anyway. It's not as though she knows the person that had said it. It now has been deleted anyway so a bit silly going on about it.

When our children are attacked it's a natural reaction

Feenie · 19/06/2012 20:07

I think it's a bit silly to harangue posters who think that attacking people's children is nasty. But there you go. Yet you keep 'going on about it', redglow. Smile

Good grief it's like watching Wimbledon reading this back-and-forth :o

Lovely quotes mrz :) (I wonder what people would think of me after an hour of play?)

I'm in my Greek philosophy mood (perhaps due to the Olympics) and P4C tomorrow

In our play we reveal what kind of people we are.

The only philosophical quote I know is from Kurt Vonnegut on a postcard my college tutor had by her desk:

?To be is to do - Socrates

To do is to be - Sartre

Do Be Do Be Do - Sinatra?

:o

Which bears no relation to this thread, I just wanted an excuse to post it.

Of what use is a philosopher who doesn't hurt anybody's feelings? - Diogenes of Sinope

(could not resist). Last post I hope!

Is that Vonnegut? I'm so pleased- another reason to love him!

Redglow- I really can't stop myself saying that I find it a little odd that you appear to be making me responsible for the spat on this thread. Please don't reply- but just to clarify, I'm not.

fuzzpig · 19/06/2012 20:35

Apparently it is Vonnegut, yes (from deadeye dick I think) - had no idea until quite recently when I decided to put the quote into google (purely to see if I could buy a copy of the postcard!) :)

mrz · 19/06/2012 20:35

Life happens too fast for you ever to think about it. If you could just persuade people of this, but they insist on amassing information.

PooshTun · 19/06/2012 20:38

seeker - the so called 'vile' posts have been deleted, I'm not even throwing any buns at you. So you are the only one keeping this spat going.

In any case, I don't know why you are so outraged. I mean I seem to recall in your thread about you appealing your LEA's decision that those posters called you worst things [and yet they escaped MNHQ's deletion rubber Confused ]

Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before... He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way.

Feenie · 19/06/2012 20:47

It is better to conceal one's knowledge than to reveal one's ignorance

Just because some of us can read and write and do a little maths, that doesn't mean we deserve to conquer the Universe.

fuzzpig · 19/06/2012 21:01

Erm, I've never actually read any Vonnegut Blush

SunflowersSmile · 19/06/2012 21:02

Problem is I have had a biggish glass of wine and just want to throw some quotes in for the sheer hell of it. Totally irrelevant ones!
EG: 'May you live in interesting times' - Chinese curse.
I'll stop it and make myself a coffee!!
I of course don't want to curse anyone...
'and all shall be well
and all shall be well
and all manner of things shall be well'. [By some Saint or other].
