Didn't know where to ask this question, but where can you get GOOD school tights?!

I need red or navy blue ones for dd age 6, she's quite slim and 120cm tall. I've tried M&S (crotch down by knees in 10 mins), Debenham's (Threadbare thighs and pants area within weeks).

HELP!
(I tried the whole 'you could just wear socks like in the olden days' but she looks at me like I suggested she go to school in knickes & vest! Hmm
And she does wear trousers somethimes but I love her in a pinafore & snuggly tights Smile

I get Zeco from school uniform shop.
£5 a pair
But highest cotton count around.
Tiny tiny waist and Shaped feet & ankles
Double seam on bottom and gusset shape too So they actually match the shape of human form.
Long length she is 4 and wears age 5
Never tumble
She only wears dresses ever and I hate buying tights. These are phenomenal though. I will be darning if she falls over!!!

I find Sainsbury's good if you buy the size above and Primark an absolute bargain for the price you pay. Red ones are always reduced here but you do need to buy big.

another vote for John Lewis. You can get them online and I tend to err on the larger size so you don't get a low-rise crotch. Always seems OK despite DD being on the slim side.

And don't tumble dry them?

My daughter's tall so I always expect to go up sizes in everything. But in tights we have to go up more. She's just turned 9 and I got her 12-13 tights (can't remember where and will use this thread for tips since I need a couple more pairs) - as she'd well and truly stretched her way out of the 11-12s we first bought 2 years ago ...

Another vote for Primark. Mine despite being quite small for their ages wear a size bigger. They definitely do red and are such a bargain. I think £2.50 for 2 pairs or something like that. My girls are always falling over and putting their knees through and you don't mind so much at those prices.

Just spotted this thread... I can't find tights anywhere . The summer dresses are coming in - but it's flippin' January!

I have been to various shops and online and navy 11-12 tights (although dd is only just 8 and not very big either, so that indicates that their tights sizing is a bit haywire) are completely elusive.

OMG tights. Bain of my life.

We need green or grey. Been looking everywhere as the 7-8 tights that i have for dds aged 7 and nearly 6 from m and s have been washed a few times and now do not fit. Have 3 pairs of green from somewhere which are fine but can't remember where.

Managed to get one pair from H & M last weekend 6-8 and they are really long. My mum got 2 pairs from 'The Famous' a school uniform shop aged 7-9 this week and they are good too. And then got some from Mothercare 7-8 and girls have tried them on and we are taking them back as they are too short.

Really annoyed as you would think Mothercare ones would be good.

BHS are rubbish as are Asda and Primark in my humble opinion. My girls are quite tall for their age though.

Trousers!
All tights are sized small and they are all silly money for how long they lastAngry

maydaychild · 20/01/2012 18:55

Startail my dd point blank refuses to wear trousers.
We have the same problem that we do with tights. They are all too big in waist and not long enough in leg. Plus you can't buy cotton rich trousers.

Tights = biggest bain of my life too!
Outside of school, boden are good but ouch!
