Ho yes, EmEyeHi, I'd love a place on that classroom wall!
I have 3 DDs and all 3 of them have ended up having IEPs. DD1 struggled with school mainly because she's a July child, so one of the youngest in her school year. I had no trouble with her having extra help and now she's just started middle school, she still needs help from the Educational Needs department just to boost her confidence levels.
With DD3, she had delayed language and we saw a speech therapist about a year ago, who said that her language would 'come' eventually (and that's what it's doing ~ she started school last week) and for me, that was the end of it; the Speech Therapist had spoken! But oh, all the meetings I still had to go to, all with the Educational Psychologist, playgroup leader, playgroup SENCO, School SENCO, school headteacher etc, etc.
But with DD2, I never had any worries at all. With all the meetings that occurred, I did what you do 'smile and nod, let them have their fun' approach. So yes, I shall carry on what I'm doing with the reading, maths and encouraging the punctuation and file that slip of paper carefully in the recycling bin!
