Hi everyone

My daughter had her first period 2 months ago but nothing since. She got her period the exact same day as I got mine 2 months ago. She's supposed to be due her 3rd period in 7 days.

I really can't remember that far back to when I was 12 and I got my first period. I have no idea if they started off as regular or not. It was such a long time ago I'm 43 years old. I can't find anything on the Internet to explain this delay.

Please share your experiences.

FYI this is from the first result in Google: It's common, especially in the first 2 years after a girl starts getting her period, to skip periods or to have irregular periods.

TBH I thought this was standard info - we had this drilled into us in sex ed in the 90s

First hit on Google 🙂

To reassure you more than anything.

Yah, I use a different search engline. And there is no shame in asking on here. Most things asked on here can be found on search engines, but people ask on here to get more specific answers from other parents. We are not necessarily looking for medical advice. Just looking to see if others have experienced the same things.

Have a great day.

It is amazing that you remember everything you were taught in the 90s!

You can’t find anything on the internet to explain this delay? It’s all over the internet that periods can be very irregular when you start.

Yeah have a Google. Maybe try a multivitamin with iron in.

Thank you so much to those who shared their experience. I feel a lot better now about what to expect.

Yes, some comments threw me a bit. I started questioning myself about how appropriate my question was!

The Internet is so funny 😂

It's not really a joke. There's some right weirdos about.

I understand. It explains some of the responses to my question.

Glory details aside can be written.
I would send her and yourself to the gp for sound advice.

I couldn’t remember my own experience. On the internet it said that the first few periods are irregular and can be up to 6 months apart. My dad started hers in Jan, had a second one in June and we are waiting!!!

It seems this generation are starting their periods much much earlier too and I’m not sure if the internet has updated reassuring stories and information as I looked everywhere and found a few articles that said “it’s normal for the first 2 cycles to be irregular” and not much else. Plus most her friends seem to have more regular cycles and so she has just become worried about her body being “different”

Thanks for starting the thread. It’s definitely reassuring
