11yo with a very small penis

I have namechanged for this.

My 11yo, who will be 12 in the summer, has a very small penis. It doesn't look as though it has grown since he was a baby.

Generally he is quite tall for his age and well built, he has always been on the 95th centile for height and weight, so this just makes it all the more apparent.

He has started getting some public hairs, but no testicular growth or underarm hair or voice deepening etc.

I'm starting to wonder if this is normal and I should just leave it, or if it's something that I should get checked, and if the latter, by who? The GP? Does he need a specialist?

He has noticed too (the joys of having an older brother!) and has voiced concern, but I'm not sure what to say as I don't know if it's normal or not!

Any help appreciated please, especially if anyone has a son who has experienced the same thing.

Probably a bit late to post but wanted to share my own experience with kleinfelters. I didn't discover it until my late twenties after my wife and I had been TTC for two years. Tests eventually confirmed it and it did explain a few things for me.

I exercise but struggle to develop muscle, I also don't have much body hair, although I have a full beard so who knows? What might set your mind at rest though is that I also had an extremely small penis right up to 11 or 12. I was embarrassed about getting changed for swimming in school. Hit my teens and balanced out and now I'd say its a little over average. But wouldn't most men...

Emotionally, I find I connect better with women than men and do find it easier to express myself. Whether this is related to a chromosome issue or the way I was raised, I can't be sure.

I've chosen not to use the testosterone supplements offered to me because I'm satisfied with myself and my body.

Finally, my wife and I accessed IVF and while we decided not to proceed after a heartbreaking miscarriage, it at least confirmed that a pregnancy was possible.

I've got 3 boys and I don't think I was looking at any of their penises when they were 11.. sounds a bit weird

Hi, sorry, newbie here.
I saw your post and thought that's so similar to my son.
Though he was born with a rare hormone deficiency condition (panhypopituitarism affects the pituitary gland so his body can't produce any hormones).
and micro p when born, so he had two shots of testosterone for that, and our endocrinologist was happy with the size after that
Now 14 years later his endocrinologist said its time for him to go through puberty now (well a couple months ago he gets his bone age measured as well to make sure its time) and uses testosterone gel every night before bed and my gosh since may/June puberty has really hit in all areas even our endo was surprised at the size of everything growing.
If you're worried, ask for a referral to see an endocrinologist. They can always do tests. My son has a condition called hypogonadism (as well as what I said above for us. Hypogonadism is in the panhypopituitarism for us), which is included in the klinefelter syndrome I saw mentioned above.

My son is 14 and still hasn’t many signs of puberty. Compare to his peers he looks a lot younger. I’ve recently asked for a referral. I’ve never seen so many people on a chat with Klinfleters. We do suspect he may have it. I’m not sure how regular it is on a family but my brother also has it so we are aware of potentially what to look out for.

My son has low muscle mass, small penis and testicles (measured on an ultrasound). We have had a chromosome profiling blood test we should get the results next week. He gets a lot of testicle pain they have no idea why.

@Mum2aTeen it sounds positive that the testosterone gel is working. Does he have that for a few months or for ever?

11 is very young, plenty of time yet.
My son didn't start going through puberty until he was nearly 15. He's 21 now and is 6'2 and has had a few girlfriends so although I've never seen him naked im guessing it would of come up if he had any issues in that department.

He will use it til he is through puberty (so years) they will then test his levels again and see if it's enough to maintain him through to adulthood. If not, he will continue on.
Unfortunately for my son, he won't be able to have children as he won't be able to produce sperm (that's another hormone his body doesn't produce), but he is going through puberty well his voice is slightly changing and all over his muscles are getting stronger and his p and testes are growing so it's been amazing.
There is a choice you can do injections or gel, and we thought the gel is a better way than getting needles all the time.

Thanks @Mum2aTeen mu son had low FSH and LSH hormones. The last measurements they took his testies were 0.7 and 0.9mm. I think he will end up needed testosterone. We are getting the chromosomes testing back next week which is likely to show Klinefleter syndrome. He’s got really low mussel mass and no body hair

Has there been any improvement with your son on this??

Ds is 9 and is sadly currently dealing with a similar issue.
