What does bedtime look like in your house for your year 6 child?

Do you still read them stories? Do they need tucking in? Do they put themselves to bed? What time? Mine really struggles getting to sleep. Ours have baths. We still do stories, have a chat about the day, hot drink. Bedtime is anytime between 8 and 9 but not very independent -needs a lot of handholding. Younger sibling is fine with a 'night' called through the door. Just wondering what's usual at this age.

I have 11 year old twins

They tend to have activities after school so we are usually home by 7.30/8pm. They have dinner. The shower and go straight to bed by 09.30pm.

On days they don't have activities we tend to be showered and fed by 8pm. Then in bed by 8.30.

They do everything themselves. I don't " do bedtime" anymore.

DS is 11 in Y6 but 5 years younger than next sibling so in many ways has not had the same requirement to be independent. Also he's dyslexic. He showers at 7:30 gets into PJs we still supervise teeth brushing most of the time (to make sure it has been done properly) and I often read to him / get him to read to me because I can and because he enjoys it. From time to time he'll have an audio book & I just sent a sleep timer. I'm keen on encouraging reading or stories for as long as possible because the others just stopped at about 12 (also dyslexic). School nights I like lights off by 8:45 as he has to get up at 6:15 for school. No gadgets after shower.

Maybe it’s a dyslexic thing, but I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who still reads to their child.

We’re an EU family, and 11yo/Y6 son goes to bed a lot later. He has activities 3 times a week (the Friday one doesn’t get us home until 930pm ). On a school night I try to get him in pjs by 9pm or so. Then he likes me to read to him (he’s dyslexic and won’t enjoy the story otherwise). Having me read to him relaxes him and I don’t mind; it’s our quiet time together. He’s usually asleep by 10/1015pm.

Mine go bed ten ish as so all their friends. I know that as I think it's too late but seems normal. Often they don't get in from eve activities til 9

DD is 11 and in year 6. Upstairs at 8.15, shower and PJ s on, we usually read to her for 15 mins then she will read for 15 mins alone, quick kiss and goodnight/chat at 8.45ish. Sleeps always until 7.45am but she needs a lot of sleep and always has done.
