We own our building (is 10 years past it's use by date!!!!!) and used to pay nominal rent for the land a few years ago it quadrupled!!! As well as breaking even we need to start saving to one day buy a new portacabin. Although someone approached us last week saying there are huge grants becoming available "just write a wish list" so we have probably £100k worth (and that doesn't include a new building!)

We also raise money through fairs, uniform sales, christmas raffle, treasure hunts etc

Fimbo · 08/07/2008 14:21

We moved in April from a church hall to a mobile on school grounds. Where are these hugh grants - where do we get info from?

£3 per session (2hrs) plus something like an extra £6 per term.

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 14:23

We charge the same for parents who pay as we get from EYEFs for funded children. Whilst I don't think we get nearly enough in EYEF's (but that's another debate) I don't see that there is any other fair way to do it. From April we got £8.25 per 2.5 hour session (South Cambs)

louii · 08/07/2008 14:24

Nothing

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 14:26

We own a portacabin on school grounds as well, though planning permission runs out in 2010 - we are hopeful that school will be building a new building for us to rent part of. We pay school £30/week, which is meant to cover their expenses (electricity/water etc)

TheFallenMadonna · 08/07/2008 14:26

We charge £6.50 for 2 3/4 hours, but are increasing to NEF session rates in September. We don't charge extra for the NEF places int he longer sessions, but that may have to change.

Fimbo · 08/07/2008 14:38

Gosh thats good Prufrock we are charged £16 per day for use of the mobile (for approx 4 hrs use) by the LEA.

£9.60 for 3 hour session. Sussex/Kent border.

Lunch club is an extra £3 for the hour but only held once a week. (The rising 5's afternoon sessions start with lunch as a 'school experience').

PrincessPeaHead · 08/07/2008 14:45

the one I've been looking at (£3.50 ph) has max 25 children per session and is in a village hall which I imagine charges very very little in rent. they have to set up every day. but got a clean sweep of "outstandings" in their ofsted!

GentleOtter · 08/07/2008 15:07

Fimbo - I don't know how she does it either (the £2 charge). She is an amazing woman but despite everyone offering to pay more, she will not hear of it.
All the children love her AND she does a breakfast/after school club and helps the older ones with their homework.

CarGirl · 08/07/2008 15:33

I think the grant is from the EYEF but I shall ask and find out - they approached us btw

Fimbo · 08/07/2008 16:06

Thats amazing GentleOtter! Does she own the building or pay rent or anything?

Any info would be gratefully received CarGirl

Toddler group, 50p/£1 for 2.5 hours - pay as you go

Playgroup, £6 per day for 2.5 hours - must register first

Both are held in school/LA owned property (the playgroup is a registered charity). This is in London btw; some of children will move across to the school's nursery class at just over 3.

ChippyMinton · 08/07/2008 16:42

Not sure what it is now, but going up to £12/3 hour session from September. I think they put the price up whenever the nursery grant rises, so parents end up paying the same top-up amount of about £2.50 a session.

Surrey/west london borders.

TheBlonde · 08/07/2008 17:11

I think it works out to about £5 an hour

littlerach · 08/07/2008 17:16

WE charge £7.50 a session, which is 2.5 hours.

We pay £6 an hour to the school whom we rent the room from.

ingles2 · 08/07/2008 17:17

£6.50 an hour at our village preschool

Mercy · 08/07/2008 17:19

littlerach, I think it's wrong that the school charge you that much.

gegs73 · 08/07/2008 17:27

£16phr for a 3 hour session(it was £12 when DS1 started). Thank goodness he is going to school in September so I don't have to pay that anymore!

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 17:28

Schools don't actually have much choice about what they can charge though -they are not allowed by law to subsidise a pre-school or after school group (unless of course they run it themselves). SO the school (actually LEA) will work out the cost of having a pre-school on it's premises, and charge that. We get away with paying v. little, as we own our own portacabin, so only have to pay a contribution to utilities. If you are actually in the school building, say in one room out of 8, you will have to be charged 1/8th of the running costs of the building. (Can you tell I've just gone through a lease review)

ChasingSquirrels · 08/07/2008 17:35

£7.50 for a 2.5hr session for unfunded children.
Cambridgeshire.

EmmyLou · 08/07/2008 17:44

£5.50 per session for non-funded children(2.5hrs morning and afternoon)
£2.00 per lunch club

We're in North Yorkshire btw.

CurrantBM · 08/07/2008 17:53

£37.50 per day (2 sessions) including lunch.

Cheltenham.

Squirdle · 08/07/2008 18:36

Ours is £9.50 for a 3 hour session. I pay peanuts now though as DS3 is 3. I paid full whack from September - January last year, but it was worth it as it's fabulous. It's in Hampshire btw.
