Hello, I have just found out I am pregnant.

I am only 20.

I'm scared. I dont know what to do. My boyfriend and I are stable and have been together for 2 years.

Im terrfied. I went to the doctors today and she referred me but said in the time of waiting I could cancel my appointment.

Im scared of what this will mean for me. Im used to myself. Just getting up when I want and going to sleep whenever and I love my job too and all my friends there. But I now feel this life inside me and I just want to protect it even though its only 5 weeks old.

I need some advice from mums who know what this is like. Im just a wreck.

Thanks

I found out i was pregnant after just turning 21, was in my 2nd year of uni, living with my partner who id been with for years.

I was absolutely petrified to say the least! This was the person who never held anyones baby for longer than i had to and had never changed a nappy!

Its totally lifechanging, you will definately get thru it but it took me around a year to actually stop feeling as tho i had lost all the things i used to be able to do so freely, still hard now as were still at the age where we havent yet got bored of going out with friends and being able to just go shopping whenever you feel like it but now cant cos u need a babysitter before u can do anything.
its definately hard work but its also nice being a young mum, u get to be young with them in a way wen theyr growing up, im having my second in 3 months - a little girl - and when shes a teenager ill be 37, which is still quite young so ill be able to do the 'cool' things with her and not be classed as a 'sad' mum. lol. sounds silly but it comforts me a little!
totally get where youre coming from tho so if u ever need to chat ill help out, been there 3 years ago!

do you have a supportive family?

i did go on to get my maths degree(thank god!) but dont think i would be able to cope as well without my Mum, she helps out so much - even with little things like wen she babysits she will do the washing up or hoover round for us. helps a lot!

whatever ur family situation tho im sure u will be just fine, once baby arrives it just automatically pushes u to know all those things u were worried u wudnt know before being a mum! it comes naturally, just a scary period in life where u change from young and carefree to being a Mummy and trying to juggle it all! Very rewarding experience tho!
