And what do they mainly eat now, for preferance? Protein or carbs?

eg

Craved milk, cheese, yoghurt and pork.

Had a boy.

He eats mainly the protein part of the meal.

cravings varied a lot. Spicy food to start with especially tasty indians and fajitas (had a weird craving for korma curry and jaffa cakes at the same time). Towards the end I craved ginger beer and chocolate.

Had a girl. Shes not weaned yet.

In pregnancy I craved Fruit, Moussake and Chocolate Mousse - She is such a fussy eater and hardly eats any fruit or veg (not for the want of trying) but she loves eggs, beans etc

Mary71 · 18/08/2005 23:19

I wanted Heinz soup and even bought a tin and got them to warm it up in a cafe and charge me about £2.00 and Heinz spaghetti hoops, and loads of fresh fruit and veg, never coal

Milge · 18/08/2005 23:20

craved carbs, esp baked potato with cheese, and Burger King cheeseburgers. Had one of each, which doesn't really help much as it proves precisely nothing!

Angeliz · 18/08/2005 23:20

mashed potato _ girl
chocolate and milk _ girl

jabberwocky · 18/08/2005 23:29

Very boring - lots of fresh fruit and veggies, esp. broccoli and avocados.

Had a boy who is very much into fruits and veggies also.

mumxfour · 19/08/2005 00:00

with my girls I craved sweets and choccy and pasta they love pasta and crave sweeties (dont most kids tho!!!), with my boy I craved savoury, red meat and junk food and he hates chocolate and sweets but loves meat and anything like this.

n1k199 · 19/08/2005 09:41

I craved fruit mainly, started with fresh pineapple and then moved through every kind of fruit going right off the one I had craved before. I also had a mad thing for ambrosia creamed rice, steamed veggies and in the final month lager.

I had a little girl who is now 4 months, is starting to eat some baby food, loves apple puree, veggies but hates the rice pudding choice.

luvlymum · 19/08/2005 09:43

I craved salt and vinegar crisps, I had a girl!

FeelingOld · 19/08/2005 10:05

luvlymum - snap, I too craved salt and vinegar crisps and chips with vinegar on (which I never usually have) and had a girl.
2nd time I craved dairylea spread sandwiches and had a boy.

iris66 · 19/08/2005 10:16

has anyone had any bad reactions to food? I had a really bad phase where anything meaty (esp chicken) smelt like rotting fish to me and now meat just seems to go straight through me!!

Carameli · 19/08/2005 12:22

with my dd, nearly 2 now I craved scampi flavoured fries and any sort of salmon. I remember nearly been in tears with desperation at work one day as none of the shops near us had any. Then one of the secretaries found some when she was at lunch, God bless her!!!

My dd really loves all sorts of fish, especially salmon and tuna. Which is great as I cna mask all sorts of veggies with them as they are quite strong tastes.

She also loves any meat going. Not great on wet fruit though.

PrettyCandles · 19/08/2005 14:42

I couldn't bear mushrooms when pg with dd, they really upset me. When bfing her I couldn't eat mushrooms either as they gave both of us major indigestion. It was only after givng up bfing that I was able to eat mushrooms again.

sweetkitty · 19/08/2005 14:47

Hi, this may sound odd, but hey - I'm pregnant so anything can go! I've had cravings for ice-lollies (sainsbury's apple and blackcurrent ones - 99p for 10!) and all the carbs that I'd denied myself before falling pregnant! But by far the strongest and strangest craving I have is for the smell of the inside of plimsolls! You know those black or white ones you used to get when you were a child, canvas with a rubber sole and a strip of elastic across the front? Well I had to go out eventually and buy a pair just so that I could sit at home with my nose stuck in one to luxuriate in the smell! Bliss! I've asked a few of my friends if they had any similar cravings and needless to say I just get strange looks! ha ha! I try not to do it too often and as the pregnancy progresses I do it less and less - but if I've had a nightmare day I will just have a quick sniff and it makes me feel better! Truly bizarre I know! Did anyone else have a craving like this? Guess the only good thing is that having a smell craving means that I haven't put on masses of weight like I would have done if I'd had a donut craving! x

kcemum · 21/08/2005 16:27

I had some bizzare cravings with all three pregnancies, going for smells and textures as well as taste. With DD1 I desperatly wanted to eat Bonios one day my mum dragged me away and bought me a packet of digestives instead

With DD2 it was normal things like strawberrys but also needed to have icelollys.

with DD3 I craved trhe smell of fresh sponges, the smell of that well known hardware shop beginning with W, petrol, fire lighters and matchbox sides (where you strike the match)and out of all three girls DD3 is the most adventurous with food.
