And what do they mainly eat now, for preferance? Protein or carbs?

eg

Craved milk, cheese, yoghurt and pork.

Had a boy.

He eats mainly the protein part of the meal.

cleverclogs . OMG!

Rachey1969 · 17/08/2005 18:28

This is slightly off tangent but I cooked all meals for ds1 myself (butternut squash, avacado etc) and he is now a meat and potato man. Ds2 had mainly jars/packets and loves curries, seafood, pickles?!

Dd is a chocoholic and I rarely eat it, even when pregnant.

cleverclogs · 17/08/2005 22:06

desperate - I know, it's terrible!

My husband used to come home from work and give me a hug (not easy as preggers with twins)and hit the roof.

Apparently my breath stank of firelighters and the whole house had been polished from top to bottom

(the car was never allowed to get low on petrol either )

helsi · 17/08/2005 22:09

I was addicted to Nesquick chocolate milkshake.

I can't stand milk usually.

henshake · 17/08/2005 22:26

With DD I went off choc, curries, prawns & pizzas but craved the gritty part of the eraser that is used to rub out biro.

DD is a fussy eater likes things that are dry not wet, ie doesn't like stews.

skerriesmum · 17/08/2005 22:31

I don't remember eating too much of any one type of food... now ds eats pretty much everything too.
The only weird thing I wanted was ice water and crunching the ice cubes all the time, with the result that some of my old fillings came loose and fell out later! Not good for the teeth obviously.

Tommy · 17/08/2005 23:09

with DS1 - went right off chocolate - it's the only sweet he will eat.
DS2 - ate a mars bar every day - he would as well given half the chance
no logic there I'm afraid

Ladymuck · 17/08/2005 23:12

With ds1 I craved apple pies. He loves fruit, any probably equally happy wth carbs and protein.

With ds2 I craved Hot and Sour soup. He is definitely a carb boy (although he also has a passion for eggs)

lucy5 · 17/08/2005 23:13

I went off fish, I still cant eat mussels 4 years on.

i drank milk likeit was going out of fashion. I had a thing for belgian buns and milk chocolate digestives wth the strongest cheddar you could find.

I also had a real thing for krackawheat, it had to be krackawheat not jacobs cream crackers as dh found out to his misfortune.

lucy5 · 17/08/2005 23:14

oops, I forgot the link dd loves milk and will only eat extra strong cheddar, try her with mild and it like you have given her poison.

zippy539 · 17/08/2005 23:27

With both I craved tomatoes and lager (blush}. Both (2 and 4) now love tomatoes but so far haven't expressed any interest in lager .

Busyalexsmummy · 17/08/2005 23:52

craved grapefruit juice

had a boy

hes mad about fruit-little fruitbat

this time around craving all sorts of stuff- mainly sweets/ice cream/lollys/chocolate/fruit crumble/jelly/lollypops/advacado with prawn cocktail/advacado sandwich with salt/tomato puree...errm, cant think of anything else right now....

Busyalexsmummy · 17/08/2005 23:56

ooops i forgot also craving stilton really badly and like cleverclogs I adore the smell of petrol(although thankfully not to the point where im drinking it or anything!!) and will stick my head out the window whilst at the garage to get a good wiff! hehe

jasper · 18/08/2005 00:13

icy milk in all 3 pregnancies.
never drunk it before or since.

Bouj · 18/08/2005 04:40

Have friend who has a theory - protien for boys, carbs for girls. I personally couldn't get enough of meat - anything and everything. Even had DH who is a class A carnivore begging for 'something with vegetable in it'!! Ds does love his meat and is pickier with carbs and veg, but I think that's his genes.

MaryBS · 18/08/2005 06:52

Cheese, particularly with herbs in - had a boy
Fruit - cherries/peaches/grapes - had a girl

Robbie is a cheese fiend, Rebecca will eat grapes and cherries, but not peaches

mumtosomeone · 18/08/2005 07:15

1st one..anything with gravy!!! Mash and gravy yummy!!
2nd one..Rubbish,junk food! Chicken flamers and pot noodles!!!

fifilala · 18/08/2005 07:58

Ice - just had to constantly have ice cubes/ice lollies/ice cream. Loved the feeling of crunching it. Went through pints and pints of tonic water and lime with.........ice!

cleverclogs · 18/08/2005 15:57

busyalexsmummy - OMG,
I never drank petrol !!!!!!

perhaps i need to defend myself here a bit

i normally have such a terrible sense of smell but this changed when i was pregnant and suddenly i found my self sniffing loads of stuff.

I do stiil sometimes get the urge though, even now .....

tallulah · 18/08/2005 16:02

DD tomatoes- she's a picky sweet-things eater

Ds1 nothing

DS2- pears- he doesn't eat fruit

DS3- opal fruits

serah · 18/08/2005 21:24

Fish, fish and yet more fish including shellfish. Could only entertain eating cod mornay at around 2 - 3 months pg. Not everyones choice of breakfast, I know....

Not really weaning DS yet, but her really loves tinned sardines and mackerel!

Those horribly sweet Kinder Hippos too, towards the end. Needless to say, I haven't given him one of those to try. Can still feel my mouth furring up at the thought [bleurghhh emoticon]

I didn't crave anything during either of my 2 pregnancies, so I'm not much use on this thread.

But my mum when she was pregnant with me aparantly drank Bitter Lemon like it was going out of fashion and I cannot stand Bitter Lemon.

When she was pregnant with my brother she ate loads of polo mints and my brother detests anything minty.

there may be something in this.
