Anyone else 38 weeks + and fed up?

I'm 38 + 5 with baby no 2 and really fed up-been having really intense braxton hicks and period like pain for a couple of nights but just like DS1 (who was 6 days overdue) no signs in day. Thing is I feel very different from last time in that I feel emotionally drained and fed up rather than physically. Just keep thinking i would like to call the whole thing off now! Anyone else feel the same???

I don't exactly qualify as I am only 35 weeks but can I please join anyway? I am very fed up too. I have had very strong BH which are quite painful. On saturday I had some the whole day every three to four minutes. Ended up going to bed absolutely knackered with a couple of paracetamol. It is my third DC.

Babies number 2 sometimes come before their siblings did though, you might really be preparing for the real thing and it might not be too long now.

honeymoonmum · 15/06/2010 17:04

Poor you-mine are really painful too and stop me in my tracks at times. Physically draining esp with others to run around after.

Feel free to whinge away on this thread!

according to my MW though we'll both be supra efficient when it comes to the real deal. Don't know if there is any truth in it but I have decided to believe her.

I'm nearly 38 weeks and fed up! Please can I join?
I also cant stop eating tthen I feel guilty for eating junk because I want junk not healthy food.
Not getting very many BH feel so sorry for you girls that are... in a way I am now worrying why arent I get lots. Am getting the period pain though.
Cant walk very well, sore inbetween my legs which I can only assume is my pelvis?
My feet hurt too.
Also I am sooo bloody bored!

Sorry ladies big whinge there!

lifeistooshort · 15/06/2010 17:36

the sore inbetween legs might be baby being engaged and pressing on your pelvis! Whinge away, that is about all you can do. That and being patient but being patient is a lot less fun!

thislittlesisterlola · 15/06/2010 17:41

Ah I didnt think of that! Not seeing mw til next wk for some reason I've decided she will tell me were ready to go and it could be any day now... I think pregnancy has made me dillusional!
Been getting weird feeling headaches too? They arent proper ones just come and go. Has anyone else?

beccas · 15/06/2010 18:19

I'm 38+2 and just ate a 100g bar of dark chocolate. Oops, 540 calories later, I'm not regretting it as such, but just feel even more fed up!
I remember with my first, (who came at 38+4) I felt like a tampon was falling out for few days before when I walked.
The day before she came, I ached in the fanjo, kind of up the sides where my legs met and no matter how I sat, I couldn't get comfy.
Sadly, none of this has happened yet, but this one is breech so got an elective on thur.... sorry, this will piss you lot right off, but my end is in sight... providing there aren't too many emergencies so I get cancelled....

honeymoonmum · 16/06/2010 09:11

I also have achy fanjo - I know exactly what you mean re tampon falling out!!!!! Feeling comes and goes.

No BH last night so now thinking it's all stopped again for a while - I seem to have gone off eating everything but jaffa cakes and almond magnums - also feeling queasy on and off though that may be my diet!!!

TMI but does anyone feel really odd when they have a bowel movement? i feel like the baby is about to come out of my bum!!!!!!!

Oh how lovely !

Another day another whinge!

Can I join too? I'll be 38 weeks on Saturday, but for the last 10 days or so, since the baby's head started engaging, I've been in a LOT of pain down below. At least I know my LO is upside down and face down, so I have my fingers crossed for a normal birth. But I'm so flipping heavy takes ages just to sit up or stand up that I'm not sure I can stand much more of this (let alone, god forbid, another 4+ weeks if I'm overdue!)

JBroRo · 16/06/2010 21:06

Can I join too? Im 38+2 and was just having a guilty moment about eating so much crap! I only finished work last Friday but already worrying that Im turning into a lazy so and so (I know really that this is acceptable at this stage of pregnancy)! I did manage a swim on Monday though so not all bad.

I've read a lot about braxton hicks but honestly don't think I have had any - is this normal?!

My hips and inner thighs are aching though! This is my first baby so have no idea what to expect!

39 + 1 here and I've been convinced labour was about to start several times over the past three weeks. Several nights of being kept awake by dull period pain or actual cramps. But still nothing. My Braxton Hicks don't hurt at all - I can only tell by the bump going really hard. The baby's movements on the other hand are really painful sometimes.

With DS I don't remember getting any signs at all before the show, which was swiftly followed by full on labour contractions, so I don't have any reason to trust my hopeful instincts.

I don't feel as physically uncomfortable this time around, although I do have the whole discomfort on walking thing and aching pubic bone area. But I'm just so bored with waiting - I'm terrified of going through labour again but I just want it over with!

del1 · 16/06/2010 21:18

This is my 2nd( 1st is 18 mnths). I had no problems with 1st.
But oh my god, I ache everywhere this time!
Im 38+5.
The outside of my thighs ache in bed all night.
During the day, my pubic bone feels like it has a hot poker pressing in it!
And the inside of my groin feels like I have just finished a years worth of doing the splits!!
Not to mention the 'bump'.
This time, it is really uncomfortable.
trying to turn over in bed takes forever, and the bump seems to slide over to which side im on?
I keep getting a pain low down, like a nerve type pain. Which is probably stratching ligamnets, or baby lying on something?
My feet will burst if they get any bigger!!
It's nice to have a moan on here, as nobody else wants to listen !!

honeymoonmum · 16/06/2010 21:23

OK aching bits explained - just saw midwife today who told me baby fully engaged!!! Didn't think this happened til start of labour with 2nd or more baby?? Does this mean its on its way soon???

She also told me baby back to back (DS was and had awful time endingin emcs) so now I'm stressing again. Trying to crawl about on all 4's but if head engaged how can it move?

BH's are odd-some people get them, some don't. For first timers, my contractions differed from BH as instead of tight hard tummy contractions also involved tightening around pelvic area-almost a circle under the bump (the cervix I guess?) which hurts!

Good luck all and roll on D-days!

Honeymoonmum - my baby's been on the way down since 36 weeks. Only 2/5 palpable last week and I think it's dropped more since. That's one reason why I've been convinced it'll happen early. Anyhow, baby is still moving from left to right and back every couple of days (v frustrated as I'm desperate to keep it LOA so I don't end up with another back to back labour), so I guess they can still move a fair bit even when the head is stuck in your pelvis!

hairymelons · 16/06/2010 21:42

honeymoonmum,I'm only 23 weeks so don't qualify for a moan (although I'd really like one!)

However I do have a couple of handy links here and here for you about shifting your baby from OP. Had a long, OP labour last time too, would like to avoid again if poss so have been researching (geek)

Good luck.

Funkycherry · 16/06/2010 23:23

I'm only 35wks, so probably have no right to moan, but....
Had a complete wobble yesterday and decided I didn't want to be a mum after all!
I've also been so uncomfortable and miserable that I've wanted her out since about week 30.

So in my mind, you're a hero for making it as far as you have.

gaelicsheep · 16/06/2010 23:31

Funkycherry - if it's any comfort I don't feel any worse physically at 39 weeks than I did at 35 weeks. Hang in there!

honeymoonmum · 17/06/2010 14:05

Funky cherry - i actually feel better than I did at 35 weeks in some ways - I think the fact you have 5 weeks ahead gets you down-hang in there you will be up to 40 weeks in no time !!!

Jairymelons

Thanks for links - already been obsessing over these pages!!!! They all seem to say to do it before baby engages-hope I'm not too late

In addition to my moaning further back, I have another thing to moan about!
I was at my auties house during a last minute few days away. And I got stood on by on of her horses! I was only wearing flip flops - ouch!!
my toes on my left foot are totaly killing me since yesterday.
So not only do I have a waddle, but a flameing limp aswell!!
Too scared to go to hospital, incase it is bad news. Can't have any broken bones with a week to go !! But s'pose the pain of giving birth will take away the painfull toes

hairymelons · 17/06/2010 19:50

It's not too late, check out the things to try during labour

Have you seen the posterior page. Really interesting, will be giving the Webster technique a go if this one doesn't get into a nice OA position!

Best of luck

honeymoonmum · 17/06/2010 21:16

which is the webster technique - couldn't find it???

OP posts:
hairymelons · 17/06/2010 22:27

sorry it's on another page, under chiropractors

There's also a video of it in the breech section about halfway down, under Professional Help For Flipping a Breech Baby: here

I've spent too long on that website I think!

Athrawes · 18/06/2010 02:16

At 37 weeks I am OVER being pregnant. So tired and just looking forward to having baby out so that I can give him to someone else to carry. I have a ridiculous fantasy that once he is out I will be able to sleep...oh god, that's not going to happen is it! I think I shall have a good cry. Baby was engaged but having taken a look at that exit route had clearly decided that my ribcage is a more reasonable route. Fed up.
