Best big pants for post c-section?

Pant recommendations needed.

ELCS booked for just under 2 weeks, feeling surprisingly apprehensive.

I know I need big pants. Last time, I tried n failed with disposables and my own and ended up wearing DHs jersey boxers as they were the only thing that didn't irritate the scar.
So planning ahead, what shall I buy this time?
Am not a skinny mummy at the best of times and not sure if reg 'big pants' will be big enough?

Jojo have some hospital pants that are good for post section and allegedly fit all sizes. Am a bit about that!

some of the 'tendier' type shops, well younger ones have boxer type shape/size pants at the moment, apraently their in fashion, have you tried looking for those ones?

Jacksmybaby · 19/05/2010 16:06

I got granny knickers from Bon Marche in a size 20/22 (normally I am a 10/12). They were great. Not sure what size they go up to though.

Good luck.

twolittlemonkeys · 19/05/2010 16:08

I got Asda smartprice granny knickers (a couple of sizes bigger than my usual) which were fab after my section and cheaper than disposable maternity pants!

mosschops30 · 19/05/2010 16:09

I bought some plain white cotton ones from Asda, they were 3 in a pack, cost £1 and I think they were the 'full briefs'.
They were great and I wore them for well over a month, wish Id had more

Tobermory · 19/05/2010 16:10

OMG, you're a 10/12 and needed a 20/22?
That's quite

kt, that's a thought, will have a look.

I got the asda value ones (think same as above). they were the "full brief" ones and not the most flattering style but comfy as hell!

mosschops30 · 19/05/2010 16:11

yes agree not flattering, dh used to get mixed up when sorting the washing between my pants and the sheet for the moses basket lol

Tobermory · 19/05/2010 16:12

Maybe a trip to Asda, Primark etc tomorrow. If they're mega cheap then not too expensive a mistake I guess.

I bought huge ones from Asda & Primark - the bigest size they did...not cos i needed them - just so they didn't rub etc.

I didn't really fancy wearing paper ones

Tobermory · 19/05/2010 16:13

Mosschops, I hate to use the phrase LOL but I really did when reading about your DHs confusion!

he wasnt even being sracastic, they genuinely looked similar

Mooncupflowethover · 19/05/2010 17:19

Theses are fab if you've had a CS, I swear by them. Hideous though, unfortunately. Sorry you'll have to cut and paste as I can't do the link.

Big granny pants, proper nipple-warmers that will go way over your scar and aren't tight, from Peacocks or the market are the way to go ime

Tobermory · 19/05/2010 19:59

mooncup yes fairly hideous but so are all the other options!
Do they stay up?
Comfy? The material looks v wierd!

Jacksmybaby · 20/05/2010 07:49

Re the size 20/22 - I needed them for about the first week post-CS as was very swollen, bigger than pre-birth. After that I went down to the 16/18!

Meglet · 20/05/2010 07:55

Primark light stomach control pants, 2 pack one pair black and one pair 'flesh' tone IITC. About £4. They come up to the belly button and are nice and comfy.

I also bought the mesh hospital pants from Jojo as they stretched more for the first couple of weeks and were nice and 'airy'.

OhExpletive · 20/05/2010 07:56

Ooh Matalan do huge pants in multipacks. I figured they were almost as cheap as disposable ones and much comfier in the end - ashamed to say (and to DH's disgust) I still have some on the go

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 20/05/2010 08:02

These are totally minging but so comfy, dry quickly, hold the mattress sized pads securely and allow air to get to the incision. They were the best thing I bought.

Meglet · 20/05/2010 08:05

ITPINZ they're the ones I had too . Worth the money IMO.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 20/05/2010 08:32

We're pant twins!

Tobermory · 20/05/2010 08:36

ITPIYZ and Meglet, despite the fact they are called 'panties' [yuk]

One size fits most... are they very stretchy? I want to ask what size you are and whether they were a snug fit but that would be impolite!

ohexpletive, as long as he didnt have the same confusion as mosschops' DH!

I think im going to try some of the mesh ones AND granny pants then all bases covered.

OP posts:
Meglet · 20/05/2010 09:20

I was about 11 stone and size 12/14 when I was pg if that helps.

LOL at pant twins.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 20/05/2010 09:23

VERY stretchy, you'll see if you buy some. Reminiscent of 2 dishrags sewn together but it paid off - no infection and healed really quickly and 9 months on scar is hardly visible. I was probably a good 14/16 after CS - still in maternity clothes but the panties WERE NOT tight. Just don't wear a short nightie in hospital!

Tobermory · 20/05/2010 09:25

I didnt realise before this thread that I had such an aversion the word 'panties'

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 20/05/2010 09:26

You aren't alone. Smacks of seventies porn to me - I have no idea why
