Is 36 too old?

Is 36 too old to have another baby? I already have three beautiful children the youngest being one but recently I can't stop feeling broody. All I think about is having another baby, I've even been dreaming about it, its driving me mad! We can make room for another but money is tight as it is for most people at the moment. Surely three should be enough! why do I want another?

Of course it's not! Have you been living in a cave all your adult life? Loads of women these days start families at your age, never mind adding to them. Whether you should have another baby is a seperate question, and one only you and your partner can answer, but don't be put off by your age.

GO FOR IT!!!! I'm 38 and expecting no 4 and i'm so glad. if yr partner is supportive there's no reason why not - after all you can borrow pretty much everything you'll need...

IMO No, it isn't. Has my DD at 29y and been TTc for #2 for over 5 years. I am now 37y and I am not yet prepared to rule it out.

Oh dear. I'll be 37 at the end of June and number one is due in 5 weeks. We plan on having another, I'll be positively ancient if 36 is too old for no. 4.

I'm 35.5 and 34 wks pg. This has been physically MUCH harder on my body this time (had other 3 in early 20's) but I'm so much better equipped emotionally and mentally and I feel I'll be a much better Mother this time.

I'm 37 too, pg with baby number 3. I was worried about it at first - but nobody else seems to be. Doctors, midwives all say go for it!! Good luck x

I had number 5 at 36/37. I had gestational diabetes and anemia for the first time, but managed to keep both under control and baby was healthy. DC 5 really cost nothing for years as I had oodles of baby clothes from all the others and also breastfed for ages.

40, pregnant with my first. never too old as long as it's not too late.

I'm nearly 40 and have no children as yet, just 2 miscarriages, but I'm still hoping that 40 is not too late - never mind 36!

Well I had my first the week I turned 41 and my second at 43 so I say of course not you sprightly young thing,go for it!

YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD!!!!!!!!!! I have 3 and would love 4, I'm 31 and get great comfort knowing I've got some years left in me. 36 is definately not my cut off point either. Where I live there has been a bit of a baby boom, lots of women having 3rd/4th after a bit of a break!

I am 40, and had a few problems but now I am 31 weeks pregnant and all is fine. 36 is young.

Oh crikey! Didn't have my first until I was 36. I'm just turned 38 and expecting another - got pregnant really easily both times, despite expecting it to take forever cos of my age.

Hi, of course you can have another, I had my first at 37, second at 40, each time I conceived quickly and had healthy pregnancies. Since you've already done it your body will know exactly what to do, just go for it! Don't worry about money, you must already have all the clothes, toys, children's books etc.

It's not too late. It might be a longer, harder road the older you get (increase in mc rate, higher risks etc), but if you are ovulating, there's time.

Do you not know any newish mothers in their late 30s? 36 is positively normal these days for 1st, 2nd or whatever baby. I'll be 35 when second DC born and apart from thinking it might take longer than last time to conceive it wouldn't have even crossed my mind!

BUT, feeling broody might not be the best reason for having another baby... Do you actually want to have 4 children? What does your DH think?
