Afterthought (about Poppy not being a 'serious' name)... We have a friend whose name is Penelope. Most people call her Penny, but for some strange reason I started calling her Poppy instead, and she really likes it. So, you could have Penelope, shortened to Poppy. Penelope is definitely a 'boardroom' name.

Lollipopsweetiepie, I'm not ttc, I'm trying to earn enough to conceive again! As sson as I finish college I will be trying, and each time so far it has taken a month only!

MrsATeam · 24/07/2005 00:49

yes LollipopSweetiePie....they are all very nice names....hope I can indulge you in my childrens names for some insight.......1st-Darcy-Jessica, 2nd-Hermione Tuesday, 3rd-Pacey David and 4th-Stockard Reilly.......

Skribble · 24/07/2005 00:53

Not keen on Dionne, Eva, Joradannah, Maycee.

mostly personal due to kids or people with similar names.

Judias, Jonah and Issac make me think of the bible stories.

emmatmg · 24/07/2005 08:36

Out of the list of girl names I only really like Eva. For Boys...hmmmm.......at a push I'd choose Isaac.
My neice is called Olivia(Ds1 would have been an Olivia) and my friend has a Poppy so I like them but because I know them.

I think Judias, Jonah, Josiah, Dionne, Jordannah and Maycee are awful. Sorry.

Micku5 · 24/07/2005 09:21

I like the name Annabelle (it's my name so am biased) and on the boys side like the name Elliot.

Carla · 24/07/2005 10:19

I like:

Mary (Elizabeth???)
Eva
Isobelle

Thomas
Isaac

Some of the other girl's names might date your daughter in years to come.

matthewsmummy · 24/07/2005 12:41

i like jasmine and annabell grace the best for the girls

and i like thomas elliot amd jacob thomas the best for the boys

hunkermunker · 24/07/2005 12:45

For girls, don't like Dionne, Jordannah, Maycee (especially with Grace - Maycee Gracie!), but do like Grace. Like the others though.

For boys, don't like Judias, Jonah or Josiah (and am not that keen on Elliot - sorry). Like Jacob Thomas best.

LolliSweetiepie · 25/07/2005 08:15

I really really love biblical names hence the jacob etc.....I also saw Isiaih? Not sure of the spelling, in the bible yesterday at church (when should have been listening to service) but not sure how it is pronounced.

oops computer on a go slow and must have pressed button too many times! sorry

LolliSweetiepie · 25/07/2005 09:27

Lol, I know what u mean about chav vicky's mum, but i'm really not chav! I plead my innocence! I'm a nice, well-groomed, respectable, church-goer! Think I will stick with the biblical names!

vickiyumyum · 25/07/2005 09:31

forgot to say mary is a nice name too, although i may be influenced because when we were at the seaside last weekend there was a little girl called mary and she was the sweetest most polite child i have ever met. I'm just not sure about the megan bit as the middle name.

triceratops · 25/07/2005 09:42

I have a Thomas Isaac so I love the Isaac Thomas option but I would agree with everyone else anout the name judias, it sounds dodgy.

I live Eva and Mary. There are four girls called Grace/Gracie at ds playgroup although they are all lovely so it is not really a reason for not choosing a name that you love.

Kelly1978 · 25/07/2005 09:48

I love the name Elliot, but then I'm biased, my ds is called Jack Elliot. We used it as a middle name, as I thought maybe it would be a bit too poncey(?) for a first name. Love Jacob too, very unusual nowadays. Not sure about Judias or Isaac.

I think all the girls names are lovely except the last three. Jordannah is likely to get shortened to Jordan and Maycee Grace just made me think of Macy Gray.

Kelly1978 · 25/07/2005 09:49

I also know a Mary - but she is my brother's gf, and a goth with mental problems! She is a lovely girl tho.

sweetkitty · 25/07/2005 10:03

Well I love Elliot if this bub is a boy he will be called Elliot (too pouncey???? )

Also like Thomas Elliot and Jacob Thomas

We haven't a clue about girls names yet we're waiting for the scan then if it's a girl we can argue of your names I like

Annabel Grace
Isobel Grace

Ellbell · 25/07/2005 10:48

LollipopSweetiePie
Isaiah (that's how you spell it!) was my grandfather's name, and I really like the name. My mum's family were all staunch Methodists, and Isaiah had a brother called Jeremiah. However, we reckon that my great-grandparents must have had a crisis of faith at some point, because when they had the 3rd son, instead of calling him Ezekiel (which would have been to be expected biblically speaking, if unusual...) they called him... Gordon!

Anyway, I really like Isaiah. It's pronounced like: eye-sigh-ah
