Title says it all, really.

I don't think the rinsed jar from months ago is the culprit tbh. I know you're probably grasping at straws but more than one positive test suggest you're pg right now.

shockednamechanger · 13/01/2010 18:37

Eeek!

But it took us over 5 years (and a lot of help) to have these 2. It just seems so unlikely.

(gorgeous DD on your profile btw)

Sometimes though they say that carrying one pregnancy to term can sort of iron out any kinks in your fertility, so it is easier to conceive again in the future.

oopsandbabycoconut · 13/01/2010 19:14

Shocked - our DD was the result of nearly 6 years of trying and fertility treatment, we thought we would never have another. I am now 21weeks pg with number 2 and DD is 15 months. Not nearly as close as yours would/might be but still shockingly close for people who could never have another child

MumNWLondon · 13/01/2010 19:21

Why did you do the first test? Did you have a feeling that you might be pregnant?

StealthPolarBear · 13/01/2010 19:40

I have an inkling...
let us know when you have re-tested, won't you?

shockednamechanger · 13/01/2010 20:32

I did the first test because I had been feeling a bit dizzy and on and off sick. I thought I might be anaemic at first so started back on the Pregaday iron and folate tablets I had during the twins' pregnancy. They didn't seem to improve the dizziness/sicky feeling, so I thought I had better check I wasn't pg again...

Oops - what a wonderful happy ending for you - and congratulations!

Stealth - Yes, I'll let you know when I have re-tested in the morning.

I am pregnant and fully BFing a now 16 month old (am about 17 weeks). BFing won't give a false + as far as I could find out. Take a pregnancy multivitamin rather than just folic acid (esp. one with vitamin D - I have sanatogen mother to be) and I have been taking 2 spatone a day since I found out, but I do tend to have iron problems in pregnancy. Congratulations!

NEGATIVE this morning!!

Panic over. Thank you ladies for all your words of wisdom.

Will update if the situation changes (again).

Meanwhile I have to admit the idea of three under one was a bit daunting!!

I think you're allowed be at the prospect of three under one

SoleLundyFastnet · 14/01/2010 09:17

Thanks

And Stealth - I used to be ZippysMum - did you guess right??

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2010 10:43

I did yes!
are you ok? I assume this is disappointment & relief??

SoleLundyFastnet · 14/01/2010 13:59

Hi Stealth!

A little bit disappointed, yes, - but I am so lucky to have these two that I don't feel sad! It would have been a bit of a stretch - but we would have managed! As it is I will have to 'make do' with two little miracles instead of three

We've just got back from their first swimming class - they loved it!

MumNWLondon · 14/01/2010 15:20

One of my friends had triplets after fertility treatment and had been trying for years..... (it was quads but one died quite late on in-utero) anyway they didn't bother with contraception, and her DC4 was born around 15 months after the triplets... she was happy as she felt (because of the stillbirth) she'd been destined to have 4.

I have heard that a pregnancy can reset things after fertility issues (I guess it depends what they were), so maybe this little incident has let you know that you are happy to leave things to chance once you finish breastfeeding!

spongebrainbigpants · 14/01/2010 15:39

shocked, bit late cos I see the test was -ve but we were in a similar situation. DS1 was conceived after 3 IVF cycles, no contraception used afterwards, DS2 conceived naturally when DS1 was 7 mths !

If you don't want to be pg then protect yourself - you can be much more fertile after a first pg.

Congrats on your twinnies btw .

serialmum · 14/01/2010 21:30

I would get to GP as soon as. I was advised to stop breastfeeding immediately as soon as I fell pregnant with DC2. It turned out I was iron & folate deficient due to still recovering from pregnancy 1, breastfeeding and dealing with the early stages of pg2.
Better to be on the safe side. Good luck xx

Hanaflower -I had no choice unfortunately was so iron and folate deficient that i was passing out. My body couldn't cope with breastfeeding a very greedy DS while in the first trimester of pregnancy no 2. Had difficult pg1 and body was still recovering when fell pregnant again.

Had the same experience. Now 20 weeks with no.2. Gap will be 13 months...aghhh. Took 3 years the first time. My doc told me I had to stop breastfeeding asap - can't remember why but you can't be pregnant and breastfeed.
