are you there JM??

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 03/07/2005 17:58

yes i am, sorry, was reading stuff on net about possible causes. Most things coming up as pre-eclampsia..... too scared to move right now. Baby is only 24 weeks - it would die.

baby will not die

do not avoid this even if you're scared

please go to A&E

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:00

could just be hypertension (high BP) simple meds and rest will bring it down

is your DP there?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 03/07/2005 18:00

yeah - he is bathing jess at the moment.

There are many things it could be which are totally un-related to your pregnancy and that the midwife might not pick up on.

Most of those things would need a full eye exam to rule them out - so the midwife or NHS direct can't help.

Can't you get a taxi (or a neighbour to drive you) and leave DH home with Jess?

QueenEagle · 03/07/2005 18:06

There will be someone on duty in the delivery suite - they won't mind if you phone for advice.

of mind.

FIMAC1 · 03/07/2005 18:06

You need to call an ambulance - sorry to scare you but you need to be seen immediately - had pre eclampsia with both pregnacies and it is very treatable but you need to be seen NOW

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:06

get a taxi to hospital .. can't think what else to say apart from the fact that I went through something very similar and if I got those beginning stages of blurred vision again I would drop everything get myself to a hospital and demand that they check it out .. although TBH I had no treatment at all, they just watched it and put me on high BP meds

QueenEagle · 03/07/2005 18:06

Sorry for rubbish typing - that was supposed to say it will give you peace of mind.

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:08

yes you are

the floating bits are a good sign .. everyone has them they are totally benign .. you are just more aware of them because you're having a slight problem with your eye .. they are little drops of blood floating through the eyeball .. they should kind of sink downwards as you open your eyes .. they are nothing to worry about

but the blurriness is concerning .. although if you have a headache it could be something as simple as a migraine

I would still go to A&E

Puff · 03/07/2005 18:08

Jessica, we could all speculate about what it is, but none of us are doctors and what everyone is telling you is spot on - A&E NOW, to be on the safe side.

happymerryberries · 03/07/2005 18:09

If you don't usualy see 'floaters' seeing them can be a symptom of a detached retina. Seeing more than you usually do can also be a symptom. Get to A and E ASAP. Please, if this is nothing, then fine, but it could be important.

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:11

JM where are you? if you're nearby I'll come and take you to A&E if you want (am near King's College Hospital if that's your closest)

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:24

I am hoping you've gone to A&E ..

please post an update later

FIMAC1 · 03/07/2005 18:26

Lets all think of her tonight and say a small prayer (even though I am a atheist) if she doesn't re-post soon

What a nightmare

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 03/07/2005 18:38

sorry guys, ive got to go to the walk-in centre, they have advised me to stay here for another 45 mins as they are really busy.

Someone tell me its all ok, please. Scared for the baby

OP posts:
FIMAC1 · 03/07/2005 18:40

I think you need to go now and not wait

  • you will be assessed on arrival and hopefully the bp they should take when you get there (insist they do if not) will put your mind at rest somewhat....

PLEASE! My bp is going up worrying for you!!!

Twiglett · 03/07/2005 18:41

what's a 'walk-in centre' and who told you to go there ? is that same as A&E, I assume they will have access to opthamologists

am glad you aren't ignoring this

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 03/07/2005 18:42

a walk in centre is basically that, its for non-emergancy type things.... doc seems to think its possibly just a migraine
