Okay. I'm 25 weeks pregnant today. DH and I dont know the sex of the baby, we wanted it to be a surprise. We're very settled on the name if we have a son (which I'm inclined to believe we are having) but have no clue about a girl. I had a dream the other night where we had a girl and for months on end we couldn't register her as we couldn't settle on a name.
We've toyed with a couple of names, only to have other people I know who are due before me say they're using that name too, and having grown up with the most ordinary name ever, I want my child to have an usual / different but not too bizarre name.

Anybody got any suggestions they can add to my growing list? I'm sure we're going to end up pulling a name out the hat, but I'm struggling with more ideas and reading the same baby name book is getting a bit boring!

If I had a boy, I really, really want to call him Luis-Alfredo, but don't know if DH would go for it. AND, it comes from a Mexican soap opera my family - well, the women - used to watch and I know they'd take the mick, so need another name . . .

I love original names. Some of the more unusual ones at my ds and dd's school ...
Roman, Piper, Sheherazarde, Romeo, Wednesday, Tiger, Mopsa.

I like

Elodie
Scarlet
Eloise (dd2's middle name)
Grace
Ruby

I had a boy so had to chuck my girl list. I remember I had written:
Billie, Bobby, Ariel and Dixie.
None of them would appeal to the grandparents of course.

what about georgia or paige?

jessicasmummy · 30/06/2005 14:08

ELF - at least im not the only one on the october thread stressing over a girls name - need second name to be Alison and the only one i can come up with to "go" with it is Chloe - and im not keen on it!

Iklboo · 30/06/2005 14:16

If we have a girl she's going to be called Imogen Laign. No idea where we got the middle name from, we just like the sound and I came up with the unusual spelling.
My friend's thinking of Elspeth, Maia or Kizzy

Fimbo · 30/06/2005 14:17

Georgia Alison is nice JM
Freya Alison?
Lucy Alison?

I also like Lexie, Milly, Eleanor, Phoebe and Gillian.

jessicasmummy · 30/06/2005 14:19

oliveoil, alice and grace are my dds middle names

PeachyClair · 30/06/2005 14:23

well, the names we had for our three boys (! if they were female, obviously!) were:

Bethany- PRE corrie baby!
Aisha
Katie
Blossom
Pixie

We have a surname that only certain names go with (Peach).

Eliza is my current favourite, Eliza Alison is nice?

Fimbo · 30/06/2005 14:25

Katie Alison is quite nice, or how about Claire Alison?

jessicasmummy · 30/06/2005 14:26

i like Katie - a very "girlie" name.... hmmmmm.... DECISIONS DECISIONS!

PeachyClair · 30/06/2005 14:27

Clair is a good name, I've always liked having it, and I am not easily pleased! Clare, Claire, Clair, Klare......spellings a-plenty!

PeachyClair · 30/06/2005 14:28

We liked Katie too, chose it and even planted a Katie Apple Tree... welcome to baby Harry!!!!!!

(Actually Harold but everyone hates that, as they do Stirling our middle son, DS1 Samuel goes down OK though)
