Okay in last 24 hours I have been crying at everything including:

Gavin and stacey- his low sperm count.

My christmas party last night- a supply teacher had come along (very brave) and nobody was really talking to him so he looked lonely.

Getting home from Christmas party feeling a bit rubbish (was also my leaving do as am on mat leave now) to find DH in bed asleep and he had put all my bed stuff in spare room so I wouldn't disturb him- I was back at 10.30 (!) so I cried because I wanted a cuddle and felt sad about leaving work.

And now currently sat sobbing my eyes out because found out my mate from worked shagged the hottest most yummy staff member at our school (who we all lust after- but obv being happily married is a harmless crush) so now crying because I feel old and married and babified (am pretty much first one of my friends to have a baby) and I am missing the drunken shagging fun of christmas. And yes I know this is really stupid and irrational but I can't seem to stop crying! Help!

  • Spilling a miniscule amount of juice on the floor made me burst into tears
  • Seeing school children singing carols in the shopping centre. Had to walk around Debenhams looking like a panda, which made me even more upset!
  • Not being able to find a matching pair of socks. DH laughed which again made the whole sock issue sooo much more upsetting! He did not understand the true upset it caused!
5inthesleighbed · 21/12/2009 11:05

I cried in Mothercare because they had discontinued the nursery set I had chosen for DS1's bedroom.

houmousandcarrotsandwich · 21/12/2009 11:15

I'm having a tearful one today, again! (ITV with the Afganastan troops giving xmas messages to home are killing me!)

But reading this thread has made me laugh, so much

Its also reassuring that I am not alone!!!

Poshpaws · 21/12/2009 11:16

When preganant with DS1 (now 8), I had already decided on the travel system I wanted and then DH suggested we get a stroller and put DS1 in it from birth. I cried and screamed that I could not even comprehend doing this to my PFB. Luckily, we were at home and not in a shop when this happened.

Still don't like newborns in strollers, but seem to have more perspective on it since having had two more babies

Fibilou · 21/12/2009 12:29

"well I'm not pg but the other day I was sobbing to Rolf Harris's Two Little Boys"

I cry at this song too - and my DH thinks I'm bonkers.
I can't tell him why it makes me cry as it sounds so silly

Fibilou · 21/12/2009 12:30

And I cried at it before I was PG btw !
I also cry at "She's Leaving Home" by the Beatles and some other very sad songs

Fibilou · 21/12/2009 12:31

And I was actually hysterical the other night - I hadn't felt baby move for about 2 hours, had convinced myself she had died and went into hysterics when she finally did move.

Poor DH was totally bemused as to why I was crying after she moved...

MamaLazarou · 21/12/2009 12:36

Well, at least 'Two Little Boys' and 'She's Leaving Home' are a bit sad.

I cried at 'I'm a Believer' by the Monkees.

MarineIguana · 21/12/2009 12:40

I cried because a pop singer in a video "looked so nice in her skirt" as I blubbingly explained to DP.
I cried when I went to a cafe and the owner was really nice to me and my lunch was delicious
I cried for ages because DP went to kiss me goodnight in bed when it was dark and I bumped my head on his chin instead.
Any sad film, heartwarming advert or image of childbirth sets me off for hours.

I welled up and had to work super hard to keep it together in McDonalds today when I didn't get a drink with my meal.

I went back to order another but after waiting for about 5 mins and not getting served I huffed back to the table and played the thirsty hard done by martyr with my sunglasses on.

I'm 32 weeks preg now and need regular quarter pounders!

PracticalCat · 21/12/2009 13:51

I also cried because I was thirsty and they took ages to serve me in the staff canteen.

When DS1 (19 months) saw his first Santa at a party last week.

ShiriDoula · 21/12/2009 13:56

well, I would have to say- two things actually-
1)a toilet tissue commercial
2)the fact that I couldn't find socks one morning which ended up with me deciding I was fat

I cried at the ITV news today all about the troops being away at Christmas. Had to turn it over and think about something else. My brother in law is out there at the moment and won't be home til March (he went in Sept) so I think that didn't help.
Certain songs can set me off too.

I'm a real cry baby at the mo - its got to be hormone/pg related right?!

Yorky · 21/12/2009 19:09

anything can set me off this pregnancy

with DS I was my usual hard hearted self, with DD an episode of the Tweenies set me off, and this time I've broken all known records - I cried 3 times in the return trip to nursery (10 min drive each way) at songs on the radio! Have also struggled to finish Thomas the Tank engine stories at DSs bedtimes, and been unable to sing at the church carol service last night (but that was cos I looked at friends who are just adopting their new 4yr old son and thought how much they must be thinking of their first 'family(child-centric)' Christmas and I flooded on their behalf!)

whippybamboo · 21/12/2009 19:40

Miracle on 34th street, film on yesterday for kids!

blonde36er · 21/12/2009 19:51

The carol singing bit at the end of Elf got me too last week...then yesterday was reading 'Guess how much I love you' in Waterstones and ended up with tears at that

Oldi · 21/12/2009 21:08

Mine was the song 'Number One' by N-dubz and Titchy Strider - doesn't make any sense at all (I was very soppy at the time) - to be fair it was when I was broody trying for a baby rather than when I'd got pregnant, but still hormone induced!

carrielou2007 · 21/12/2009 23:00

Dd (almost 3)talks with her dad about her list to father christmas and all she wants is a yoyo, a skipping rope and some juggling balls. I cried on the way to try to buy some (have been looking for ages) then cried in the shop when I found them, cried whilst trying to tell her dad I had bought them.

Cried not being able to get my feet in my walking boots before going out in the ice today.

I've never really been emotional so think my body has been making up for lost time since having dd!!

Ozziegirly · 22/12/2009 01:54

I have welled up three times today and it's only lunch time.

  1. Reading in the paper about a soldier proposing on GMTV from Afghanistan.
  1. There's a Huggies advert on here at the mo (don't know if you have it in UK) where it is different types of hugs with babies; "family hug" and "please don't go hug". I have to hurridly think of something boring when I see it. I have welled up just typing this.
  1. Some innocuous story on the news about a puppy or something.

Sigh. I have 8 1/2 more months of this (finger's crossed!).

kinnies · 22/12/2009 01:59

I'm sat here like a muppet sobbing about cold sheep

I tried to tell Dh about all the sad/funny things on this thread but start blubbing too much to talk (esp 'Goodbye Mogg' )

Now to top it Dh has put on the music channel and its playing 'all I want for Christmas' Last year Dd went potty for this song. Used to crawl to the tv and jiggel about. Now shes walking and starting to talk

I usualy blub but am worse now pg with Dc3

BoobBuffet · 22/12/2009 04:22

Only had one meltdown when pg, but it was a whopper. Got home from work to find dinner would be a bit late - was inconsolable. The look on poor DPs face!

Poledra · 22/12/2009 09:11

Oh, re 'Goodbye Mog' - we don't have that book in this house coz DH reckons he's not ready to say good bye to Mog.....

hippopo · 22/12/2009 11:23

I am 12 weeks and Christmas card from my Mum just arrived in post. It reads:
