U ladies have killed me with laughter today! The only thing that I've managed to do so far is almost flood the house as I 'forgot' that I was running a bath! And also in the middle of most of my conversations - I totally forget what we're talking about. But nothing else apart from that. How boring!

I was taking DS1 to nursery when I was about 5 months pg with DS2, I locked myself out of the house with no phone, purse or anything. Feeling totally alone I decided to kick the back door in, which shockingly I managed to do. IDIOT!!!

happymerryberries · 27/06/2005 16:28

I was trying to clean the outside of a window. I put my hand between the two paines of a sash window which then fell, trapping three of my fingers. I couldn't lift it up and was yelling for help (and was 4 floors up at the time) In the end I managed to lift the window up, before the circulation was cut off and I lost the fingers

madmarchhare · 27/06/2005 16:30

Parked the car, opened the door and realised I was a bit out. Reversed back to come in again and knocked the door off (that I had left open) on a lampost.

went out shopping with dd for 4 hours returned to find my neighbour standing by our front door - which was wide open - saying he thought we had been burgaled and was about to call the police, he went into the house to check noone was in there and they came out saying he didn't think anything had been taken as it lookedas though they hadn't made "too much of a mess" -it then dawned on me that i took dd to the car strapped her into the car seat then got in the car and drove of -i never even went back and closed the door nevermind locking it!!! i thanked our neighbour and said i'd sort out phoning the police and hurried inside I've never told him the truth (particularly as the mess the burgulars created was my lack of housework

bamik · 27/06/2005 16:44

chicagomum, LOL !!!

dramaqueen72 · 27/06/2005 16:46

LOL Chicagomum i have done the same thing only to return home WITH dh who then made us wait in the car while he stormed round the house checking for burgulars.......

About 7 months pregnant with DS I decided that the piano would look better on the other side of the room. Dragged it about halfway across the living room before thinking 'Maybe this isn't such a great idea right now'. Thought DH was going to kill me when he got home!

Other than that, the usual stuff like putting my keys in the freezer, using sugar instead of salt in a recipe, forgetting names of family members(!), etc, etc.

18mumtobe · 27/06/2005 19:55

sorry you lost ya money minnie

when i was pregnant i was just really forgetful all the time and i also walked out of a shop with something in my hand (can't remember what is was, never did get over that forgetfulness after he was born hehe!) the alarms went off and i still didn't notice i was looking around at other people trying to work out who it was then finally realised it was me. so quickly walked back in (very red faced i expect) and paid for it.

MINNIE1 · 27/06/2005 21:12

  1. Nearly set fire to the microwave on first day of maternity leave. Meant to warm up a drink. Pressed wrong button and went upstairs. Totally fried it and left smell of burning in air for 2 days.
  1. 'Lost' crutches (have spd) in house, which dh had to 'find'. Don't ask...

  2. 'Lost' cd lent to me by friend. Forced dh to search high and low for it through out whole house. Was found still in CD case - which i'd checked twice...

  3. Put wrong pin number in card - which has now blocked it - can't use when out, can't be arsed to rectify it either

  4. Forget what i'm talking about all the time

  5. Constantly spill food/drink down top - no matter how careful i'm being

  6. Told by dh not to paint fence blue and to conserve energy for labour. Did it anyway and honestly thought he wouldn't notice... (no logic at all). His first words were 'why is the fence blue?', i looked at him as if to say it wasn't me, but then he pointed out the streaks of blue paint adorning my clumsy pregnancy body. It was a fair cop gov. Can't believe i thought i'd get away with it.

Still not as good as rollercoaster, or as painful as sash window antics....

When 7 months pregnant I climbed a ladder to inspect work being done on our roof.

At 8 months pregnant I climbed some scaffolding at work and got stuck on a vertical ladder on the way back down. One of the scaffolders had to built another way down for me

Quite often tried to get my bump through gaps that there was no way I was going to pass through.

scubamum · 28/06/2005 12:23

I thought it would be a good idea to paint the downstairs toilet. It was not a big room so thought it was not too much to take on. However at around 7mths in a small room I found the bump got in the way (for some reason that had never crossed my mind) and there was no way I could get down to paint around the toilet I would have to - DH had to finish it off

I also decided to cut the hedge that was overhanging from next door - nearly falling off the ladder at one point, but continued.

in earlier pregnancy, I was looking for a pair of maternity trousers in my size. I picked up a pair, looking at the waist thinking they were way too big for a size 10 - doh, I need room for an expanding waistline!

marz · 28/06/2005 12:29

I do like this thread!
When 7 mths pregnant with dd2 I set fire to my pan of oil...had to call fire brigade and they were very gracious...and I had just started my first BHicks, but the fireman said he had deivered a baby before....so I was in safe hands!!!

moondog · 28/06/2005 12:34

Left the handbrake of the car when i parked it on a slope at a garden centre.
Had to hold onto the boot to stop it going into a river while screaming for help.

Sent two birthday cards to my aunt on two consecutive days.

Cleaned the windows (81/2 months pregnant) Fell of the stool I was balancing on (naked!) on the landing and bounced all the way down 15 stairs.
Spent the night in hospital being monitored-baby ok though!

bubbles2904 · 28/06/2005 19:56

i work 5 mins away from my house and about 6 weeks ago i got to work and when i looked down i had dd's school bag in my hand as well as my work bag. had to walk back home as dp was taking her to school and she needed it asap, thats all so far except for forgetting mid sentence what the hell i was talking about!

MaryP0p1 · 29/06/2005 07:09

Marz, I like a Fireman as much as the next girl but please that is SUCH an extreme way to get a Fireman to the house.....

MINNIE1 · 29/06/2005 08:57

O ladies there funny

As it is i forget what i am talking about all the time.

Get my words all mixed up.

Forget where i leave things.

But i have one big slip up each week, like over paying staff by 100quid (well they had a god time with that!), and of course leaving the money in the pass machine!!

i went to goose fair and went onto the scariest ride. i didn't know i was pregnant yet though.

Flamesparrow · 29/06/2005 09:06

Driven.

Hormones screw my brain and my driving was a nightmare when I was pregnant with DD... including ploughing it in the back of another car.

nervousmum2be · 02/07/2005 23:29

Laughed so much, i nearly went into labour (mind you, it would be too early, given that i'm only 26 weeks!)

The worst thing i've done so far was leave my keys in my mum's front door when visiting - doh! I'm also getting very forgetful - i write notes to myself, then loose the notes or forget what they were about in the first place!!!

Ahh, the joys of pregnancy...

mummytummy · 02/07/2005 23:34

When heavily preg with DD1 I went out to dinner with some v. slim work colleagues, and followed them through a narrow gap between a man's chair and a small table which was holding a giant cheeseboard and different types of bread, and I got myself wedged! The man couldn't move his chair in any further because he was fairly large, and the cheese and bread table ended up flying!
