I probably could have had Celvapan as nurse asked me if allergic to egg without even looking at my records but had other one as kicks in quicker. Had it weds have sore arm but baby still kicking like mad. Had it at 19+5 btw.
Good luck deciding

fanjolina · 20/11/2009 19:13

Tomatefarcie, as you are near Kent, I would suggest going to Dover and getting ferry to France.

Thay have just had Panenza approved, which seems to be safest vaccine of all. It's the only clinically tested vaccine. And it doesn't contain squalene or mercury.

Though I suspect pregnant English women won't be at the top of their list for who they are giving it too!

carmenmiranda · 21/11/2009 08:42

tomatefarcie

I heard from my PCT yesterday the DOH have just said that pregnant women can be offered the celvapan vaccine and the vaccines should be with the GP's by the end of next week. Still saying better to have Pandremix as immunity quicker. I am in Kent too. I was supposed to have the Pandremix yesterday but this new news threw me into turmoil, so I didn't have it. Best wishes

Tomatefarcie · 21/11/2009 10:01

NEWS NEWS NEWS!!!

this

Page 3 states that pregnant women should be offered Celvapan by their PCTs, and that gps should be aware of this, as some vaccination is better than none.

I have just written -AGAIN!- to my pct, after having my gp on the phone saying they had no stock at all.

(hope the link works)

EldonAve · 21/11/2009 10:27

great link and great news for those who want Celvapan

Scorps · 21/11/2009 14:26

I have been offered the injection, only 11 days before my EDD. I assume its Pandemrix.

Am i right in thinking that baby will acquire immunity, from being in utero and through BF?

DH & I are both on the fence.

waitingwaiting · 21/11/2009 21:40

Hi,
I had Pandemrix yesterday morning, felt absolutely fine all day afterwards, but then this morning woke up feeling sick and generally unwell.... starting to feel better now though so unwell feeling lasted just over 12 hours. My arm doesnt hurt that much at all, I had it in my right arm and made sure my muscle was as relaxed as possible when being injected so maybe that helped!?!
Hoping I've now made the right decision about having pandemrix... was humming and ahhing about that and Celvapan but as I'm due to give birth in 4 weeks thought I'd better do the fastest route so I didnt worry about catching anything when in hospital, also I wanted to make sure baby had some immunity from it when it was born.... so I can worry a bit less!!

18 weeks pregnant and had the jab this week. at first I decided not to but then had a change of heart and decided to go for it.

bluecheesefiend · 04/02/2010 19:44

I'm 13 weeks and living in the US and they're adamant that all pregnant women should have it for their own protection.

CazEM · 04/02/2010 20:37

I had mine the day after my BFP - I was having it anyway because I work with medically vunerable children. (Whole school job lot, children and staff done together!)

I was a bit worried having it so early on in my pregnancy (I was about 5 weeks), but spoke to my schools nursing team who assured me it was safe. No adverse affects, now 13+5.

Lots of people said they felt they were coming down with flu after it but I didn't feel at all ill , my arm didnt even hurt really!

MammyG · 04/02/2010 21:08

8 weeks - new I wanted to get pregnant so had flu jab 3 months ago. Wanted to have it thru my system etc before getting pregnant. I am in high risk job and my mother lost a baby cause of ordinary flu so didnt want to run the risk. Tho am naturally worried about long term effects it was a case of weighing it up. Right now there is a very real threat to my life if I get it(breakind out around here again in new wave now) as opposed to the possible threat of something being wrong witht he vaccine in the future.

cardamomginger · 05/02/2010 09:48

Am just under 7 weeks and had the jab last week. No side effects other than pain and small amount of swelling in arm around the injection site. I believe that the vaccine is safe (both in absolute terms and during pregnancy) and that the risks to me and to my unborn child if I do contract swine flu could be significant. As I understand it if you are pregnant you are not necessarily at any greater risk of catching it, but the symptoms can be much more serious.
Good article in New Scientist:

(Sorry - don't know how to post it as a link you can just click on!).

SkaterGrrrrl · 05/02/2010 17:21

Am 6 weeks pg and had the jab this week. Had the MMR when I was TTC too.

I'd rather be immunised than not immunised.

(Cardamom I also have a small swelling on my arm from the jab, glad it's not just me!)

To 2010DAD,
To 2010DAD,
For those of you who are interested in the company behind the swine flu vaccine have a look at Glaxo Smith Kline?s directors list, It makes fascinating reading and you can cross reference (via the internet) a few of the directors regarding some very interesting events and positions they hold. Conflict of interest may come to mind!

*Sir Liam Donaldson, although not on the directors list however, i feel you need to have some information regarding this man.

Sir Liam Donaldson ? Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Department of Health

This man approved Mercury & Squalene to be in the injection to be given to pregnant women & children. Unbelievably he is also the chair of the WHO (World Health Organization) Patient Safety Secretariat. Is this a bad joke or what,,,, unfortunately NO!

*James Murdoch - Son of Rupert Murdoch
CEO of News International Ltd who is ideally placed to control propaganda regarding the swine Flu & the vaccine. James Murdoch was appointed to the board of directors of Glaxo SmithKline PLC 20th May 2009. Haven?t read much negative news about the Swine flu jab in his papers, Hmm wonder why, NOT!

*Sir Roy Anderson (Scientist) ? sits on the governments SAGE committee and is a director of Glaxo SmithKline the purveyors of the swine flu vaccine to H.M Government with a nice little pay packet of £116k a year, at least a quarter of what he receives from his shares ?.hold on surely this amounts to a ?conflict of interests?.

SAGE (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) recommends that everyone should have the yet untested, unsafe and toxic Swine Flu Vaccine.

Hmmm, Surely one now has to at the very least consider agenda's and or conflict of interest here?

The above is only my observations; I am not trying to persuade anyone one way or the other. However, I do advise you to do as much research as possible prior to getting the jab and not just on government information sites, that way you will be better informed and take the decision that is right for you.

Good luck and best wishes to all you Pg women.

Miffster · 04/10/2010 09:28

'I just want to know the truth', I wish you would stop spamming the boards conspiracy theory stuff? Because it is fairly obvious that you have an agenda and you are cut and pasting unsourced, inaccurate, emotive stuff from conspiracy theory sites like prison planet.

yellowflowers · 04/10/2010 09:40

I am 30 weeks. Have docs appt next week and if they say I should have it I will have it.

1Catherine1 · 04/10/2010 10:36

I'm 16 weeks and have an appointment on Saturday for the jab but am currently undecided. I work in a school and everyone knows kids carry every germ going. If there's a bug going around I am sure to get it every time. For this reason I think that it is best to have the jab but I'm really concerned about the effect it could have on my baby. I've had swine flu already so if there's another flu around with equally as bad symptoms I think I will need to have it since I spent a week in bed last time on medication.

Rev084 · 04/10/2010 13:18

I'm 8wks, not really crossed my mind to have swine flu jab. However my OH is a pharmacist and thought it was a bad idea last year when it was being given to children, pregnant women etc. as he thought, to his best knowledge, that it had not gone through enough clinical trials (if any).

So no, wouldn't think of having any vaccine when pregnant. Better to try and stay healthy the natural way.
