Gap's maternity denim skirt. I lived in it. And Jojo Maman Bebe's black evening maternity trousers which in fact aren't eveningy at all and brilliant for work

londonlottie last time I was pg over the winter I got by with really thick knitted cardigans and a waterproof over the top if needed. Bought a normal cagoule in a bigger size with one of those zips that you can undo from the bottom. Was better than a coat as the cardies were still nice after the birth. Don't know how suitable for depths of Swiss winter but it did me during that cold winter of 2003 when we had lots of snow in London.

And to add a personal rant what's with under the bump trousers? After about 30 weeks they just fall down

Trying I teach as well and jersey trousers with long tops have been perfect. As well as the ones mentioned above I found some in M&S (not maternity trousers) which are widish leg and really stretchy. Might need to trawl around the less attractive clothes in one of the larger shops to find, but although the top isn't very attractive you'll be hiding this and they feel like a smarter version of very comfortable yoga trousers.

bratley · 16/09/2009 12:02

H&M maternity vest tops and big pants while at home (we lived half way up a tower block so no one had to look at me thank goodness!
Yoga trousers - fab. Got a pair of addidas ones and a lonsdale ones from that sports shop thats always 'closing down'... is it sport soccer? Bought them cheap as I was only going to wear them while pregnant but I've got a pair on now! DS is 2 and they're still going strong!
H&M have some really nice maternity tops in at the moment, went in with my pregnant friend last week.

eeyore2 · 16/09/2009 12:13

I'm 32 weeks now and hate hate hate waistbands across the bottom of my bump. For work I live in jersey wrap dresses or skirts with stretch over-bump panels. Also I love my Jojo Maman Bebe blue check pjs which are quite flattering and have a lovely soft over-bump panel

Lucy7744 · 16/09/2009 12:22

Dungarees from mothercare, I wouldn't have survived without them - so so comfy. I was quite sad to put them away after I'd had ds.

my polar bear suit

woowa · 16/09/2009 15:14

ooh - didn't know h&m did maternity clothes- my trip to London from the "far-north-east-shop-desert" will now take in h&m as well as Gap maternity (amongst other things invisible in the northeast.

I have bought a winter coat, londonlottie in a style which only has a few top buttons and then really wide and open at bottom (Edina Ronay from TKMaxx! Bargain) - maybe called a swing coat? I figure bump might start to poke out in a few months' time, but I can tie a pashmina round it!

Anyone else find they are colder pregnant? I HATE gloves and have never worn them, but have a craving for them when I go outside at the moment!

TaylorSwift · 16/09/2009 15:34

I lived in dresses over leggings with flat boots during my last (winter) pregnancy. Nothing as comfy as flinging on some leggings of a morning

overthemoon2009 · 16/09/2009 16:36

Woowa - I am also feeling the cold and already wearing a scarf on a daily basis. I am hoping that the pregnancy heat will kick in before the winter starts.

Re: coats
There is a gorgeous coat on Isabella Oliver -www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/maternity-coats-jackets/Funnel-Neck-Jacket/D/30100/ P/2:100:1110/I/OT041

I love it, but at £199 it is quite expensive, given that it's a maternity coat and won't get lots of wear. Mind you, used IO stuff sells for a good price on ebay, so one option is to get it and then flog it on ebay next autumn. It would look great with brightly coloured, long leather gloves (the sleeves are quite short).

Firsttimer7259 · 16/09/2009 17:00

I currently have a pair of old lady trews from M & S that are working out well. You know the ones that are basically jogging pants but are made from a more crepey fabric so look trousery. So I can go to the office in what feels like sweat pants but with a shirt shoes etc looks fine. I just fold the front down a bit so its under bump.

I hate the feel of anything over bump, and use bump bands only to disguise the fact that my pants are undone if wearing pre-preg jeans. I dont really have the falling down trouser problem - I think my bottom and hips are holding things up.

Dresses are also good but I need to find some decent flat shoes. Draw the comfort vs fashion line at dress with trainers - altho perhaps nice trainers...hmmm Thought I could wear my (flat) boots with the dresses I bought but my calves are a bit bigger and it pinches - fiendishly uncomfortable and also bad for the boots whcih I love and want a few more years out of.

Am 5 months with a bump that looks bigger.

1mum1 · 16/09/2009 19:20

My mothercare maternity nighty - pity I can't leave the house in it!

tinylion · 16/09/2009 19:31

Cos I'm only tiny (4 foot ll) it's a nightmare trying to find decent petite maternity wear, but Next does some lovely soft mat jersey jumpers. I wear " bengali" trousers from funmum.com. Incredibly stretchy!!

alana39 · 16/09/2009 19:51

londonlottie that cable cosy is lovely, but know what you mean about not doing up. I am much too tight to buy anything from IO but have had a couple of really thick cardies from M&S, both Autograph / Autograph Weekend, which just did up at the top. No idea if they have any this year. And sometimes Boden have long thick cardies with buttons all the way down so you can just do up the bit that actually closes.

Yet another advocate for long tops/jumpers and leggings, although I still wear my ASOS maternity jeans a lot and I'm sad that the weather is turning and I can't wear maxi dresses as much anymore.

Slip on shoes/sandals are also a must - preferably without socks as I can't even get them on properly without help from DH!

lulutan · 17/09/2009 09:55

The biggest T-shirt in my partners wardrobe!! Just a shame i cant go out in it!!

overthemoon2009 · 17/09/2009 10:50

londonlottie i like the cardigan, especially in teal with the contrasting buttons.

swing coats if anyone can recommend any, please do. i need to find a coat soon.

comfy clothes in mothercare there is a nice denimn dress that would be really comfy - a shift shape with a big pleat in the middle. it is much nicer than it looks in the photo below.it would work well with leggings or tights. i tried it on and will be going back for it when my bump is bigger. here it is

tryingtobemarypoppins · 17/09/2009 11:04

overthemoon2009 what a lovely dress, worn with Uggs and leggins and a cardigan - PERFECT!!!!

overthemoon2009 · 17/09/2009 11:06

which maternity leggings do you all recommend, or are you wearing normal leggings in a bigger size?

tryingtobemarypoppins · 17/09/2009 11:07

I have just ordered some very long ones from Topshop maternity, they may arrive today so I'll let you know if they are any good!

overthemoon2009 · 17/09/2009 11:13

i also tried on this dress, which would be good for work if you need to be smart.

i am just coming up to 17wks and my bump isn't that big yet, so it looked a bit funny, but it would look really good with a decent-sized bump and, again, is really comfy.

overthemoon2009 · 17/09/2009 11:18

gap maternity also have some dresses that look good and would also be really comfy.
