I know its been done before but i can't find it when searching the archives...

I have just begun to tell people i'm pregnant, I'm 13 weeks and have a 12 month old so there will be an 18 month age gap...not that shocking i don't think. Anyway, so many people have asked if the baby is a 'suprise' or a 'happy accident' etc. It is actually very much planned but even if it wasn't, what makes anyone think its their buisness.. I am so shocked!

So come on ladies, give me so good comebacks!

Not a euphimism afaik.

More to do with saying that your tv is broken so you have no entertainment and so look for other things to do - like sex.

Normally said in a jokey manner if people have children close together or have a few children.

Always retorted with

"actually TV is fine.....it's that blasted BBC ......and their lack of quality programs thats to blame !!"

which was once answered back with.....theres always scrabble..

" yes but DH took so long on his turn I was back to being bored"

..
but the "my hubby promised to pull out in time"...is hilarious to use for the inlaws...

would never have had the guts to say this though !!!

Although....i dont even have the guts to have a glass of wine at christmas in front of the in-laws ...hehe

Or there is always the other response that I've heard -

"No the tv is just fine. It keeps the kids occupied while we do other things"

mathanxiety · 26/08/2009 19:36

"Why do you need to know?"

I think that's an incredibly rude (and personal) question.

I got it with DD1 (wasn't THAT young - 23), DD2 AND DD3 (got pregnant when DD2 was nine months old too) I found it very offensive.

I did, on occasion, say "It always amazes me that people think that's an appropriate question to ask".

Congratulations, by the way!
