Help! When I think of my baby, I always imagine a girl !!!!

I don't know why but when I think of my baby I always say her... and I only look and girl clothes and things. I just have always assumed that my baby will be and is a girl. Then today my girlfriend told me that I should also prepare myself for a boy. I refuse and can't even imagine that! What is wrong with me? I just want a healthy baby. But I just can't see anything but a baby girl.... any advice?

My DH wanted a girl and so I 'protectively' thought about having a boy to try to even things out. Maybe this is what your friend is thinking - may help if one of you look at lovely little boys playing and the v. cute baby boy clothes about. TBH like most people here the moment you know, you know and it's fact and is lovely. I'm ~14 weeks now and can honestly say I see advantages to having 2 DDs or having a DD and DS. We'll find out at scan as I personally loved knowing and planning.

When I was pg with ds1 both dh and I deep down, wanted a girl.We had the scan, found out we were having a boy and after a few days, got used to the idea of having a boy. After having him,we then realised how wonderful boys really are and when I fell pg again we really hoped the baby would be a boy.We now have 2 lovely boys, are thinking about a third, and really don't care if we don't have a girl, now.

I think if you feel you might be disappointed if it's not a girl then you should find out in advance.

I was convinced I was having a girl, absolutely convinced. I bought a few dresses and a pink blanket when I was around 16wks pg. It was a total shock when we asked the sonographer at the 20wks scan and she said it was a boy. Had I not known in advance, by 40wks pg I would have been knocked sideways with the shock, so total was my belief it was going to be a girl in there!

I still look a bit wistfully at pretty baby girl clothes, because they are nicer to look at than boys clothes, and I still have the dresses and the pink blanket I bought (unopened and tagged, just in case I do have a girl one day) but that's about it. The baby that you get is the one you'll love no matter what the sex and anyway, as I see it, this way I get plenty of time to indulge in my endless girlie hobbies when DH takes DS out for football etc in the future, so there are some extra hidden benefits

I really wanted a boy first time and got a girl. Was convinced I was having a boy second time and out popped another girl.

Our only regret is not being able to use our boys names . You will adore whatever comes out.

I'd wait and have a surprise and just enjoy your pregnance, part of the fun is wondering what your going to get, it's one of the few true lovely surprises in life.

Although I agree with Salleroo re not finding out like we did with DS1, if you think you will be disappointed with a boy, personally I would find out at 20 week scan to prepare yourself but that is just my opinion.

I was so convinced I was having a boy that I remember looking round the room in a dazed way after dd had been delivered, thinking "what have they done with my boy?".

But this really did not interfere with our bonding; I was able to recognise the irrationality of my thinking and see that as something separate from my love of my gorgeous little baby girl.

Next time I got pregnant, I checked at the 20 month scan. And yes, it was a boy. But by then I really would not have cared one way or another.

Have you dreamt of the sex? I read somewhere that women dreaming of their baby are astonishingly accurate at getting it right.

When i was pg with ds1 i didnt find out what i was having but i knew he was a boy..i only picked boys names, looked at boys clothes etc...and when i had him and they said its a boy i was like 'yeah i know' in a stroppy kind of voice

With ds2 i was convinced he was a girl...picked girls names etc and when i found out at my scan he was a boy i was disappointed for a few seconds..then the disappointment faded.

I am pg with dc #3 and have absolutley no preference at all this time round

I have always imagined having a little girl... and that she would be my first child. A few weeks I found out I was pregnant I had one dream that I had a one year old son. Weeks later when I found out I was pregnant; I just knew it was a girl. I dreamed about her, I bought girl things, I had her named picked out a whole year before I got pregnant! (Arabella... my little Bella!) Plus all of my friends and family thought it was a girl as well. It was so strange! And when I went to my sonogram and I saw her moving and kicking... it was so amazing. Its such a miracle that she is inside of me!
