please help, i'm 20 weeks and think i'm losing baby

Have been getting tightenings since friday, just a few at first

saw midwife this morning who said if they become regular i need to phone labour ward

have been having them every few minutes for last few hours. phoned labour ward who said to come in and they will have a look but there isn't much they can do at 20 weeks

I'm waiting for dp to get back, am shaking and terrified

Memoo - some women do just get braxton hicks from quite early on. I am 16 weeks and have been having little runs of them for a while. That could well be what this is, so please don't panic.

Like everyone else says, hope it's BH or UTI. I had them all through my 2nd pregnancy.

I so hope all is well. I was on the braxton hicks thread saying sure was ok, have had braxton hicks for ages this preg and so on.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the lovely messages.

Didn't get home til very late last night so this is the first time i've had to come on computer

Everything is ok. When we got to hospital had to go straight to labour ward.

I have got a UTI!

They put me on the monitor which was registering the tightenings quite frequently so they kept me there for hours to monitor things. Fortunately my cervix was completely closed and tightening eventually stopped.

They were happy that nothing serious was happening but my blood pressure was really high so they still wouldn't let us leave.

It finally came down to 136/83 so they let us home with the condition I go back on Thursday to have BP checked.

It really was the worse night of my life! If I had lost this baby I swear they'd have to bury me with it because I can't deal with losing another one.
