What is getting you through these early weeks? I was wondering as some of things that have been good for me have been suggested by friends and I wouldn't necessarily have thought of trying them.

  1. Lucozade (for when nothing else is possible).
  2. French Fries crisps
  3. Watermelon (in slices or juiced as a drink).
  4. Yoghurt coated raisins.
  5. Ready to eat dried mango slices.

Anyone else care to share their guilty secrets ?

toast with marmite
cereal (mostly shreddies)
salt and vinegar crisps
mint imperials
sour fruit (lemon, lime, manderins)

funny how often the same things are repeated!

also i'm going to list worst 5 things:

cheese
garlic
olives
lettuce
brown bread

  1. Cereal - any type
  2. Muller Cruch Corners - but not the strawberry one
  3. Toast
  4. Cheese
  5. Egg Sandwiches

That's about the sum total of what I can eat, but I can't make it as opening the fridge makes me sick

Don't get the ginger thing - it doesn't make me feel better at all

Lightly salted kettle chips sandwiches
Fruit juice mixed with lemonade
Haribo Tangfastics
Cornflakes with cold cold milk and sugar
Nutrigrain elevenses bars (only the raisin ones though) or the really cheap sainsbury's own cereal bars

Cold coke and chocolate are good at the time but make me feel worse shortly afterwards.

And how did I forget, the absolute best:

Original Tucs biscuits (lovely and salty) with margarine, then really thin slices of cheese and thin slices of gala apple.

Mmmmmm, heaven

With DD I had a terrible combination of uncontrollable urges for spicy food and bad morning sickness. My throat felt like it had been scoured.

With DS I couldn't stand anything spicy and lived on

  • hummous and pitta
  • chicken Caesar salad
  • mini cheddars
  • toast and marmalade
  • lemon fanta

Mashed potato(instant or freshly made, either is good.)
Jacket potato
Chips
Monster munch but only flaming hot flavour.

and ketchup seems to go down well too.

was the same with ds, apart from the monster munch, a very potato-y theme.

nydublingirl, I did get the Kraft mac & cheese in the UK. They had it at Selfridges food hall at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. A reliable source tells me the food hall in London has it too. There is a corner shop in Blackheath Village that used to stock it--god I wish we lived there now!

There are quite a few websites that import American food if you are desperate.

www.americansoda.co.uk/uk/American-Soda/Home/default.aspx

www.skyco.uk.com/

Also, check some of the American expat message boards. That's how I found out about Selfridges--someone will probably have reported if there is anywhere local to you to get it.

I had such a thing for fake cheese that my mom sent me a whole package of nothing but nacho cheese dip! All gone now...
